Berkshire College is a co-educational boarding school for grades 9-12 located in Sheffield, New Berkshire County in Western Massachusetts (New England). At Berkshire we offer a first-rate academic program, distinctive opportunities in the arts, and excellent athletics.

We are located approx two and a half hrs from Boston and New York City and one and a half hours from Albany.

Boarding Life:
Berkshire School is a community that values accountability, responsibility, and respect. With our solid foundation in academics, students also gain confidence and respect living in a nurturing and caring atmosphere within one of our ten dormitories.

All of our dormitories feature vertical housing, or students of all ages and grades; freshman through seniors. Our seniors are called upon to be leaders and role models in each dormitory.

Directions / Instructions:

From New York City and Points South
Take the Saw Mill River Parkway to Interstate 684 north. Follow I-684 to Route 22 (at Pawling) and travel north to Millerton. In Millerton, turn right on Route 44 and continue east to Salisbury, CT. In Salisbury, bear left on Route 41 and travel north for 13 miles. The entrance to Berkshire School is on the left side of the road. (approximately 2 ½ hours)

From Albany and Points West
Take the New York Thruway east to Exit B3 at the Massachusetts border. Take Route 22 south to Hillsdale, NY. In Hillsdale, turn left on Route 23 and travel east towards South Egremont, MA. Five miles after crossing the Massachusetts state line, turn right on Route 41 south and travel 3 miles. The entrance to Berkshire School is on the right side of the road. (approximately 1 ½ hours)

From Boston and Points North and East
Take the Massachusetts Turnpike to Exit 2: Lee. Take Route 102 South and travel towards Stockbridge. In Stockbridge, Route 102 joins Route 7. At the Red Lion Inn, take a left to stay on Route 7 south, and continue to Great Barrington. Route 7 will merge with Routes 23 and 41. Travel through Great Barrington center until you reach the traffic light by the Great Barrington Police Station (on left). Turn right onto Routes 23 and 41 towards South Egremont. Just past the village of South Egremont, turn left on Route 41 South and travel 3 miles. The entrance to Berkshire School is on the right side of the road.

From Hartford and Central Connecticut
Take Route 44 west to the town of Canaan, CT. In Canaan center, turn right on Route 7 north and travel for 10 miles across the Massachusetts border. In the town of Sheffield, MA, turn left at the Police Station onto Berkshire School Road and travel 6 miles. Turn right on Route 41 north and the entrance to Berkshire School will be 200 yards ahead on the left. (approximately 1 ½ hours)

From Southern Connecticut
Take Route 8 north to Route 44 west to Canaan, CT. In Canaan center, turn right on Route 7 north and travel for 10 miles across the Massachusetts border. In the town of Sheffield, MA, turn left at the Police Station on Berkshire School Road and travel 6 miles. Turn right on Route 41 north and the entrance to Berkshire School will be 200 yards ahead on the left.

The John Dewey Academy

Located in Great Barrington, in the Berkshires area of west Massechusetts, The John Dewey Academy is a year-round college preparatory therapeutic boarding school for troubled teens ages 15-21.

Serving Grades 10-12 and Postgraduate students, we provide an individualized and comprehensive education in a non-traditional therapeutic school setting. Our students are bright, troubled adolescents with a history of self-defeating or self-destructive choices.

At The John Dewey Academy, we take our identity as a college preparatory school seriously. With a highly credentialed staff of dedicated and passionate teachers, a small class size (six students on average), and high demands and expectations, we provide a challenging academic experience.

At The John Dewey Academy, adolescents encounter a peer-based community of empowerment, an exciting educational environment, the challenge of real responsibilities, and the realistic promise of acceptance at a college of quality. In such an environment, they can change.
Therapeutic Boarding School for Troubled Teens Ages 15-21 (Grades 10-12 & Postgrad)

- Our minimum length of stay is eighteen months, although most students take 2 to 2½ years to complete the program.

- Students carry a minimum of five courses a semester in the traditional divisions of English, History/Social Science, Math, Science, and Foreign Language.

Concord Academy

Located in Concord, Middlesex County MA, Concord Academy is a co-educational, independent, college preparatory boarding & day school for Grades 9-12 offering standardized testing, college preparation courses and advanced placement courses.

Believing that education is most meaningful when students find rewards in the learning itself, CA constructs an academic program that engages students’ minds and hearts and helps them become lifelong learners. Our students are encouraged to think with analytical power, imagination, and creativity.

Boarding options are available in one of our houses on campus or with host families. This is often the preferred option of new students.

Host families are usually parents of day students who wish to share their home and family experiences with a new student. Each student house has a house manager, a junior selected by house parents and the previous years’ Boarding Council.

Turning Winds Academic Institute (TWAI)
Courses / Programs
Located in northwestern Montana, Turning Winds Academic Institute (TWAI) is an accredited, family-run, therapeutic boarding school for troubled teens (boys and girls) ages 13-18 from New Hampshire and across the United States.

In our beautiful, peaceful, and safe location, we combine the benefits of a therapeutic boarding school, a wilderness program, and a residential treatment center (RTC).

TWAI has been serving struggling teens and their families since 2002, with an exceptional degree of success.

We provide an extremely high standard of therapeutic treatment to our students, and offer help for the following presenting issues: poor academic performance, behavioral problems, addictions, low self-worth, spectrum disorders, ADD/ADHD, and attachment disorders among others.

With a passion for helping young people in crisis, our clinical, educational, and operations staff are among the best in the country.

We are a small program (40 students) which means that we are able to provide a truly unique and customized approach for every student.

Typically our on site student to staff ratio is 5:1. The average stay at our residential treatment center is 12 months.

We create a customized program for each student that requires a minimum of 3 months. However, best results for lasting success are realized through 6+ months of treatment.

TWAI graduates average a 3.5 GPA. It is common for a student to complete 1.5 years of course work in 1 year.

The Greenwood School, located in Putney, southeastern Vermont, is a pre-preparatory boarding and day school for boys ages 9-14 who have been diagnosed with one of the following difficulties:

Dyslexia; specific language-based learning disabilities / learning differences (LD); receptive language and/or expressive language deficits; executive functioning deficits; attentional difficulties (ADD or ADHD); disorders of written expression; dysgraphia; or speech and language needs.

In fact, a combination of these learning disabilities / learning differences (LD) are often clustered together in most Greenwood students’ learning profiles. Despite their learning challenges, our students are highly intelligent and have significant talents in the arts, in woodworking, or in athletics.
