Boarding at Concord Academy:

Image of Co-Ed Day & Boarding School in MassachusettsFamilies choose boarding schools because they offer abundant opportunities that are not available at home, accepting the sacrifice of temporary family separation to take advantage of the rich opportunities available at the nation’s preeminent independent schools.

Boarders don’t give up all of family life when they come to CA; they enlarge it in our small, family-oriented student houses and with the many day student families who welcome them into their homes.

In turn, CA’s boarding program enhances the day student experience by making teachers and advisors more readily available and by expanding international friendships. Our seven-day-a-week, twenty-four-hour-a-day boarding program is an asset for boarding and day students alike.

Boarding Options:
Boarding options are available in one of our houses on campus or with host families. This is often the preferred option of new students. Host families are usually parents of day students who wish to share their home and family experiences with a new student.

Each student house has a house manager, a junior selected by house parents and the previous years’ Boarding Council. The house manager is responsible for assisting in the management of house jobs and for running the house store.

We also offer a day/boarder exchange program whereby day students may live for a week in one of the student houses or boarding students may live in a day student’s home.
