The Greenwood School:
The Greenwood School, located in Putney, southeastern Vermont, is a pre-preparatory boarding and day school for boys ages 9-14 who have been diagnosed with: dyslexia; specific language-based learning disabilities / learning differences (LD); receptive language and/or expressive language deficits; executive functioning deficits; attentional difficulties (ADD or ADHD); disorders of written expression; dysgraphia; or speech and language needs.

Our goal is to facilitate the development of self-confidence and to provide our students with the academic foundation necessary for them to reach their true potential and enjoy a successful experience in higher education.

Faculty:

Love of learning is at the heart of the enthusiasm and dedication Greenwood teachers bring to their work. Greenwood’s faculty members are highly qualified and experienced, many hold advanced degrees, and their average tenure is over nine years.

Turning Winds Academic Institute (TWAI)
Courses / Programs
Give your troubled teen the chance for a new beginning by enrolling them in Turning Winds Academic Institute (TWAI).

Located in northwestern Montana, TWAI is a family-run, therapeutic boarding school that provides help for struggling boys and girls ages 13-18 from Maine and across the United States.

We combine the benefits of a therapeutic boarding school, a wilderness program, and a residential treatment center (RTC) on a beautiful, peaceful, and safe 150 acre campus.

TWAI offers help for the following presenting issues: low self-worth; low-mild behavioral issues; academic underachievement; learning disabilities; ADD/ADHD, various disorders such as: depression, addictions (substance abuse, gaming & pornography), spectrum disorders and attachment disorders. 

We provide an extremely high standard of therapeutic treatment to our students and have an exceptional degree of success. The average stay at our residential treatment center is 12 months.

We are a small program (40 students) which means that we are able to provide a truly unique and customized approach for every student. Our on site student to staff ratio is 5:1.

TWAI graduates average a 3.5 GPA, with 98% going on to attend trade school or college. It is common for a student to complete 1.5 years of course work in 1 year.

The Putney School
Courses / Programs
The Putney School is an independent co-educational boarding school for Grades 9-12 in Putney, Windham County, southern Vermont, just 115 miles from Boston. The Putney School is an educational community where expectations are high, and friendships are close.

In addition to a challenging college preparatory academic curriculum with AP, SAT and ACT courses, each student participates in the arts and in music to develop skills that will bring lifelong enjoyment. We also provide evening art classes, project week, a work program, summer school and an ESOL program.

As one of the first boarding schools in the country to embrace coeducation for high school, we have had a long time to develop a residential program that nurtures, empowers, and teaches. Students are spread across campus in nine small dorms, ranging from 10 to 30 students.

Student Dorm Heads coordinate dorm activities and functions, from nightly dorm cleaning to weekly meetings and special weekend events.

Located in Marlborough, Middlesex County MA, 30 miles west of Boston, Hillside School is an independent boarding and day school for boys in Grades 5-9.

For over 100 years, Hillside has provided educational and residential services to boys who need to develop their academic and social skills. Hillside accommodates both traditional learners and boys with learning differences and/or attention problems.

Located in Saxtons River in Windham County VT, Vermont Academy is a private, co-educational, college preparatory school, primarily boarding in nature, for Grades 9-12 and post graduate. We are one hr and thirty minutes from Hartford, CT and two and a half hrs from New York.

Our students are constantly challenged in the classrooms, on the athletic fields, and in the community as a whole. We believe in setting the bar high while also securing a safety net to catch those who fall short of their goals.

It is in the effort of trying that growth is made, and our faculty and staff are devoted to fostering a “try and try again” approach to success. New Hampton School is an independent boarding and day school serving boys and girls in grades 9-12 and at postgraduate level. We are located in the center of the small village of New Hampton, Belknap County, New Hampshire, 100 miles north of Boston.
