Blue Ridge School (BRS) is an all boys, college preparatory, private boarding school for grades 9 through to 12. We are located 1 mile north-west of Dyke in Greene County in Central Virginia, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Our school is situated 20 miles north of downtown Charlottesville, and approximately a 2.5 hour drive from both Washington, D.C. and Richmond, Virginia. College Preparatory Curriculum:
Blue Ridge School offers a college preparatory curriculum designed specifically for young men who learn best in small classes with a supportive faculty. Our curriculum provides the right balance of structure to fully prepare our students for college. Blue Ridge School provides capable and willing young men an environment where they are able to develop and enjoy academic success and personal growth. Our carefully structured college preparatory curriculum gives each student the personal attention and challenge needed for growth and learning. We take special pride in helping those students who may not have realized their potential in other academic settings and instilling in them a love of learning that lasts a lifetime.

An education at Blue Ridge School is holistic, with intellectual, social, spiritual and emotional dimensions. We believe in training the mind to think critically and creatively. Our caring and professional faculty and staff not only believes in developing skills needed to succeed in an increasely interdependent, technology-based world, but also in developing the virtues needed to be good people, responsible citizens and assets to society.

Our Learning Model:
We use our Learning Model as this theme to unify classes. Our Learning Model is based heavily on the following:

- Our curricular design based on the work of Wiggins and McTighe as presented in Understanding By Design (1998).
- Our adherence to the principles of the Coalition of Essential Schools.
- Our approach to scheduling derived from the work of Shortt and Thayer as presented in The Complete Handbook of Block Scheduling (1999).

Boarding Life:
Blue Ridge School strives to make our campus a "home away from home." Our faculty and staff work, live and play on campus. Our faculty and staff know each student by name, what they are interested in and are available to students when needed. Blue Ridge School is a community, and at the center are our students. Blue Ridge School believes strongly in the philosophy of "work hard, play hard." We offer a number of clubs, activities and trips to ensure our students are rewarded for the work they achieve.

Outdoor Education Program:

The Blue Ridge School Outdoor Program strives to take advantage of our mountain location while encouraging nontraditional activities, teamwork, personal challenges and a respect for the natural world.

Athletics Programs:
Athletics are a big part of the Blue Ridge School culture. We support 20 Varsity, Junior Varsity and Squire athletic programs.

Oak Hill Academy is a non-military, Baptist-affiliated, co-educational boarding / day high school that provides college preparatory education for Grades 8-12, for both domestic and international students.

Located in Front Royal, VA, Randolph-Macon Academy (R-MA) is a college-prep boarding school with an Air Force JROTC program. R-MA is one of the premier military schools in the nation, and the only Virginia military school offering Air Force JROTC. Our focus is on college-prep. 100% of our students are accepted to college.

Students in Grades 6-12 discover their potential and develop better academic and organizational skills. Students receive personal attention in the classroom and in the dorm. Founded in 1916, Virginia Episcopal School (VES) is a college preparatory, coeducational, independent boarding and day school for students in Grades 9-12 located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Lynchburg, Virginia and consisting of an intimate academic community of 200 students.
