The students will work through a goal guided, developmental model. The model consists of 3 phases of “levels” to reinforce gaining new skills and tools that aid them in relationships, academics, personal development, conflict resolution, self-advocacy, integrity and respect.
The girls learn to take care of their own personal needs as well as the needs of the home, giving them a sense of responsibility for their environment, and respect for their community.
They follow a typical academic schedule with a teacher to student ratio that allows each student to get support and attention in the classroom that will ensure their individual success. The girls have the opportunity to participate in a variety of extra-curricular activity and team sports, including soccer, cross-country, basketball, volleyball, and tennis.

Located in northwestern Montana, Turning Winds Academic Institute (TWAI) is an accredited, family-run, therapeutic boarding school for troubled teens (boys and girls) ages 13-18 from North Carolina and across the United States.In our beautiful, peaceful, and safe location, we combine the benefits of a therapeutic boarding school, a wilderness program, and a residential treatment center (RTC).
TWAI has been serving struggling teens and their families since 2002, with an exceptional degree of success.

We create a customized program for each student that requires a minimum of 3 months. However, best results for lasting success are realized through 6+ months of treatment.
TWAI graduates average a 3.5 GPA. It is common for a student to complete 1.5 years of course work in 1 year.
Founded in 1916, Virginia Episcopal School (VES) is a college preparatory, coeducational, independent boarding and day school for students in Grades 9-12 located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Lynchburg, Virginia and consisting of an intimate academic community of 200 students.
