The Putney School:
The Putney School is an independent co-educational boarding school for Grades 9-12 in Putney, Windham County, southern Vermont, just 115 miles from Boston. The Putney School is an educational community where expectations are high, and friendships are close. In addition to a challenging college preparatory academic curriculum with AP, SAT and ACT courses, each student participates in the arts and in music to develop skills that will bring lifelong enjoyment. We also provide evening art classes, project week, a work program, summer school and an ESOL program.

Boarding Programs for Boys & Girls in Grades 9-12:
Photo of College Preparatory Boarding School in VermontPutney's rigorous academic program stimulates independent thinking and a love of learning that goes far beyond the classroom. Core subjects include English, history, modern languages, math, science, the arts. Classes are small and engaging. Friendly first-name relationships between students and teachers contribute to an atmosphere of mutual respect in which students learn to take themselves and their ideas seriously.

Critical thinking and scientific problem solving are prized. Students learn to speak their minds, to form well-reasoned opinions and to defend them. Putney students are encouraged to be voracious readers and prolific writers.

Graduation requirements include four years of English, three years each of math, laboratory science and a modern language, two and a half years of history, one year of academic art and evening arts electives each semester, as well as four independent projects a year. Most students elect to take more classes than are required.

Advanced Placement Courses:
We offer advacned placement courses in all aubject ares.

College Preparation Courses:
We provide college preparation courses for SAT and ACT.

The Arts:
Involvement in the arts is one of the central Putney experiences, and the academic arts program, encompassing a diverse range of disciplines in the visual and performing arts, forms the core of the arts program.

Music courses introduce students to the language and art of music, from both an academic and an aesthetic viewpoint. A full range of drama classes are offered during the academic day, as is a modern dance class with a focus on building both a technical and creative foundation from which to move.

English for Speakers of Other Languages:
The English for Speakers of Other Languages Program (ESOL) is a small program within The Putney School that is designed for international students who want to develop a high level of English for academic work in the United States.The goal of the program is to prepare students academically for their study abroad, including language training, content education, study skills, and cross-cultural orientation.

Located in northwestern Montana, Turning Winds Academic Institute (TWAI) is an accredited, family-run, therapeutic boarding school for troubled teens (boys and girls) ages 13-18 from Vermont and across the United States.

In our beautiful, peaceful, and safe location, we combine the benefits of a therapeutic boarding school, a wilderness program, and a residential treatment center (RTC).

TWAI has been serving struggling teens and their families since 2002, with an exceptional degree of success.

We provide an extremely high standard of therapeutic treatment to our students, and offer help for the following presenting issues: poor academic performance, behavioral problems, addictions, low self-worth, spectrum disorders, ADD/ADHD, and attachment disorders among others.

With a passion for helping young people in crisis, our clinical, educational, and operations staff are among the best in the country.

We are a small program (40 students) which means that we are able to provide a truly unique and customized approach for every student.

Typically our on site student to staff ratio is 5:1. The average stay at our residential treatment center is 12 months.

We create a customized program for each student that requires a minimum of 3 months. However, best results for lasting success are realized through 6+ months of treatment.

TWAI graduates average a 3.5 GPA. It is common for a student to complete 1.5 years of course work in 1 year.

Located in Saxtons River in Windham County VT, Vermont Academy is a private, co-educational, college preparatory school, primarily boarding in nature, for Grades 9-12 and post graduate. We are one hr and thirty minutes from Hartford, CT and two and a half hrs from New York.

Cardigan Mountain School (CMS) is an accredited boarding and day middle school for boys in grades 6-9 located in Canaan, New Hampshire in the New England region of the northeastern United States. At CMS, we instill a love of learning and promote intellectual curiosity and growth, recognizing that each person learns differently.

The School is located off a quiet, secluded street in a typical New England village. The campus itself is situated on a peninsula extending into Canaan Street Lake, 1,200 feet above sea level. Within sight of Mount Cardigan, the campus enjoys views of surrounding hills and valleys.
