Hampton Court House, Surrey:
Hampton Court House, located in Surrey (35 minutes from London), South East England, is an independent co-educational school offering programs to children from Nursery (3.5 year olds) to Year 11 (16 year olds). Most children who come to Hampton Court House stay on to take GCSEs. Those who do wish to move on earlier are fully prepared for the 11+ and 13+ Common Entrance and scholarship examinations of the leading boys’ and girls’ schools. Hampton Court House was founded 8 years ago. Already we have grown into a school of almost 200 pupils. So we are a new school and yet a traditional school. The most important thing to us is that children enjoy being here and that they look forward each day to coming to school. We want to lay the foundations of a life long love of learning.

About Hampton Court House:

Photo of Private School in Surrey, UKOur children are ‘empowered’. We want them to give free rein to their enthusiasm and intellectual curiosity. We believe that children need some (guided) freedom in order to develop their own style with taste and discretion. Pupils and staff have mutual respect for each other. Many of the staff (including the Headmistress) are addressed by their first names, without fuss and with no sense of disrespect. Whilst there is a dress code, there is no uniform.

Homework:

Every attempt is made to avoid repetitive or non-productive work. The school sees homework as a vital tool for reinforcing classroom lessons and for encouraging independent working habits and skills. The homework for each subject and class is posted on the school’s intranet at the end of each day, thus enabling parents can see what is expected of their children and monitor their child’s homework schedule and content.

After school care and pastoral care:
Providing effective pastoral care is central to the life and work of Hampton Court House. By a mixture of personal example, by the obvious care taken of the needs of each individual pupil and through the existence of a nurturing ethos in which respect and concern for every individual are paramount, the School aims to create an environment in which pupils feel secure, their behaviour is respectful of others and discipline can be managed with a light touch.
