Whilst boosting creativity, confidence, team-working and social skills, the young filmmakers also produce their own movie projects to share at ‘premiere’ screenings and at home. Our members learn about all aspects of film-making in a fun and creative environment, producing their own movies to share at our special 'premiere' screening events, and on DVD to watch at home.

We look forward to launching our new workshop series in Animation and in Acting for Camera, as well as a full programme of holiday workshops. Sparks will soon also be active in a range of new locations, and we look forward to working with new talent from around the UK.

Our History:

Sparks opened as Studio Film School opened in 2009 with a pilot filmmaking workshop. Since then, our programme has gone from strength to strength to include a weekly filmmaking group, regular workshops during school holidays, 5 day intensive Summer Schools and workshops for schools and corporate partners. Recently, we also added filmmaking birthday parties to our range of activities, which have proved to be incredibly popular. We've been amazed and inspired by how many young filmmakers are out there.

Sparks Staff:
The staff at Sparks all have professional backgrounds in film, theatre and arts education, as well as experience of working with children. We started because we wanted to offer filmmaking as an accessible and enjoyable activity for children and to foster a creative hub for the next generation of filmmakers.

With media and the moving image surrounding us and playing a part in everyday life - and access to technology like never before - we wanted to help children not just to watch films but to make their own films too. Since we opened our doors, we've enjoyed watching our members grow in confidence and creativity and we're consistently inspired by their achievements.
