The Big Apple Academy is a private, co-educational, independent K-12 school located in Brooklyn, New York. We offer educational programs for kindergarten, elementary school, junior high (middle) school and high school. Our school occupies two modern facilities located in the Gravesend area of Brooklyn.

Our students are engaged in courses including English Literature, Writing, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, Music Appreciation, Art Appreciation, Foreign Language, Computer Science and Technology and Sports.
Swimming classes are also scheduled as part of the physical education program (held at the Dolphin Swimming School). Kindergarteners are given an hour to nap while the rest of the school takes this time to rest through quiet play, extracurricular academic clubs and other activities.
Curriculum:
Our curriculum is informed by the standards of learning designed for K-12 NY schools by the New York State Department of Education, as well as those provided by various national pedagogical organizations.
We engage our students in a challenging and increasingly interdisciplinary academic program enriched by the latest pedagogical initiatives, including Writing Across the Curriculum, Literacy, and Instructional Technology. Our students learn through discovery methods that emphasize their ability to think critically, research, analyze evidence, synthesize ideas and formulate conclusions.
The Big Apple Academy strives to create an informal learning environment where students develop their character, mind and body. The greatest asset of our private school is the close-knit relationships between faculty and students. Facilities:
Our students have access to the latest educational technology by having their lessons scheduled in state-of-the-art computer classes. Scientific experiments are regularly conducted through the use of microscopes and other tools geared toward scientific discovery and research. All classes are equipped with TV’s and DVD players as well as other materials produced by the school for didactic purposes.

The New Amsterdam School offers programs inspired by Waldorf curriculum for children from birth to age seven and beyond in Lower Manhattan, New York City.
