Geneva School of Manhattan:
Located in the heart of New York City on the west side of Manhattan, The Geneva School of Manhattan is a preschool to eigth grade coeducational school offering a classical, Christian education. We provide preschool with French language immersion, kindergarten, lower and upper school programs. Founded in 1966 the school has provided a rich and rigorous curriculum within the framework of Christian beliefs since the beginning.

Co-Ed Programs from Pre-K through 8th Grade: 

Preschool:
We believe the early years provide the best opportunity to cultivate an enduring love of learning.

To that end, our youngest students are immersed in a nurturing environment, which integrates learning with play. Our teachers, pedagogy, and small class sizes combine to equip students with impressive linguistic and numeracy comprehension.

Students learn French starting in Preschool, using the language approach of immersion and repetition that taught them their mother tongue. Shorter learning periods—interspersed with periods of music, physical playtime, learning centers, and outdoor exploration—allow our students to flourish intellectually and emotionally. Our Preschool gives students an extraordinary preparation for Kindergarten and beyond.

Lower School:
In the Lower School each student develops a mastery of early academic skills, continued character development, and a greater understanding of God.

Through teaching the fundamental principles of language, mathematics, science, history, French, Bible, chess, and the fine arts, students learn to:

* Read with comprehension
* Write clearly
* Speak convincingly

Our literature-based curriculum establishes a strong foundation in the humanities and employs the traditional subjects of phonics, punctuation, penmanship, and formal grammar. By the end of Fourth Grade, students have studied ancient history—including Egyptian, Greek, and Roman periods—as well as early American History and are prepared to study European history starting in Upper School.

Upper School:
In our Upper School, we encourage students to apply logic and critical thinking to every subject. The history, science, and math facts learned in previous grades allow our students to delve into more complex subject matter. Students emerge from the dialectic phase being able to discern logical arguments from anything they read, see, and hear in electronic or printed media.

Upper School students revisit the historical periods (ancient, medieval, and modern) they studied in Lower School but with more sophisticated content. Whereas in Lower School a student memorized history facts in chronological order, Upper School students begin to assess the import of historical facts and their relevance to current events. By the end of Eighth Grade, our students are equipped to articulate a thesis and defend their theses in both oral and written forms. In addition, our Upper School graduates will have studied the greatest authors of ancient and modern history from Homer, Ovid, and Sophocles to Lewis, Tolkien, and Jefferson.

Our math curriculum prepares Upper School students for solving complex equations and word problems using multiple approaches. By the end of Upper School, students will have completed Algebra 1 course and acquired a comprehensive understanding of earth and life sciences and chemistry.

Also in the Upper School, students engage in lively and intensive study and debate of biblical texts with an emphasis on New Testament and church history. In addition, the visual arts curriculum complements their learning by giving them a thorough understanding of the elements of design.

After School Programs:
After School Programs include ballet, art instruction, chess club, sports and exercise.
