Lower School:

Preschool:
At Hawthorne Christian Academy we believe that each child is individually made in the image of God and therefore possesses unique gifts and talents. Beginning as early as preschool our teachers seek to identify and develop those gifts, as they teach our youngest students about God and demonstrate His love. HCA's preschool offers a secure, nurturing environment where children are encouraged to explore, create, discover, and learn.

Kindergarten:
As a child begins his formal educational training, he will enjoy a full and varied program. The structured optional full and half-day programs include Bible memory verses and stories, readiness in reading and mathematics, development in music, art, physical education, computer skills, and the use of the library and the computer. Social development, coordination skills, and proper work habits are stressed resulting in a positive and strong foundation.

Grades 1 - 5:
In these self-contained classes Bible is emphasized and integrated into the major subject areas. The major subject areas include Reading, Language, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. Besides the core subjects, these grades have a number of special subjects. These include Art, Computers, Physical Education, Music, and Library skills.

Middle School (Grade 6-8):
Each grade consists of two classes or sections that have been divided heterogeneously. Each grade will have classes in Math, Science, Social Studies, Bible, English, Reading, Physical Education, and Music. In seventh/eighth grade mathematics is approached by a two-track system based upon the individual student’s aptitude in math. This two-track system continues into the Upper School. Other courses taken in Middle School include Art, Health, and Computer. Each student must fulfill the Christian Service requirements before promotion to the next grade.
