NYC Performing Arts Centre:
NYC Performing Arts Centre (NYCPAC), located in Toms River, New Jersey (50 miles from New York City), is a non-competitive dance and drama studio offering classes in Ballet, Pointe, Modern, Jazz, Lyrical, Tap, Hip-Hop, and Theatre Arts for children aged 2 yeas and over. Established in June of 1999, NYCPAC operates under the philosophy of "learning while having fun" and keeping their students "excited about learning".

The Children’s Program Ages 3 thru 5:

Introduction to Tap:
Teaches the basic foundations of tap, using rhythms, patterns, and technique, while being musical.

Introduction to Drama:
Teaches improvisational techniques that kids will relate to by using their creative minds to explore different characters while using their physical and emotional senses.

Introduction to Ballet:
Teaches the fundamentals of music, ballet technique, and creative movement.


Dance Department:

Ballet:
The most important discipline of all dance forms, it provides a basis in all dance training. This class is designed by level exploring balance, control, flexibility and proper dance alignment. It is recommended that ALL students register for at least one ballet class per week in order to get the most out of their dance education.

Pointe:
An advanced form of ballet for females that shows strength agility, and technical ability. (Based on teachers approval)

Hip-Hop:
Turn on any TV and you will see what’s happening in today’s commercial dance world. HIP-HOP is it! HIP-HOP has become a very important part of dance, Music Videos, Award Shows, as well as any new forming Pop artists coming onto the scene. This class is geared to anyone and everyone, from the novice to professional it’s fun and a great form of exercise.

Tap:
Tap was born in the United States during the 19th century, and today is popular all around the world. The name comes from the tapping sound made when the small metal plates on the dancer's shoes touch a hard floor. This lively, rhythmic tapping makes the performer not just a dancer, but also a percussive musician. This is a great exercise for your body and for your memory.

Modern:
A very important part of any dancers training is modern dance. At NYCPAC we teach The “Graham Technique”, which requires great discipline and flexibility to perform, is highly individual, stark, and angular. Martha Graham known for the pelvic contraction and release was one of the pioneers of modern dance in America.

Jazz:
Jazz at NYCPAC is taught in its rawest form. Classic Jazz is a style; it requires the dancer to stay low (in plie’) while holding onto his/her sense of musicality, timing, and emotion. Ballet & Modern training assists in the understanding of what is expected of the dancer.


Drama Department:

Theater Arts, Acting Improvisation, Monologue and Scene Study:
Theater Arts is designed to develop all the tools an actor needs while using various artistic techniques that enable an actor to express him or herself. Students will learn drama (the performance of an imaginary or real life situation that involves a plot, theme, characters, conflict, and some sort of resolution) and improvisation. Improvisation is to invent, compose, or recite without preparation. The class purpose is to learn team work, group participation, and ensemble acting skills. To solidify the students basic stage skills to gain experience in rational, logical thinking while in a performance situation.
