Our Commitment:

Here at Country Day Montessori School of Raleigh, we educate the whole child because "each child is constantly working towards the person they will become..." (Maria Montessori). At CDM, we are focused on the child. We are committed to sharing the responsibilities with parents in helping each child reach his / her potential in a safe, warm and loving environment and providing an enjoyable and rewarding experience.

Our Goals & Philosophy:
Dr. Maria Montessori believed that every child delights in spontaneous activity directed towards intellectual discovery. The attitudes and confidence developed during these formative years will serve the child throughout their lifetime. Students at CDM are honored and respected as the unique individuals that they are. In a Montessori environment, your child will develop a sense of order, concentration, co-ordination and independence. Thus, values such as compassion, harmony, and justice develop naturally in our environment.

Montessori / Early Education & Childcare Programs:

We provide developmentally appropriate programs for ages 6 weeks - 6 years, with both full-time and part-time options available.

- Infant's and Toddler's programs
- Montessori Preschool program

We stress rich learning experiences that stimulate children intellectually and give them an opportunity to master skills while having fun. Children participate at their own level, during both structured activities and free playtime. Early childhood literacy development is emphasized in every program, Infants through Montessori Preschool. Programs are geared to meet the physical, social, emotional and educational needs of the individual at his or her own readiness level, taking into consideration each child's particular stage of growth and development.

The Purpose of Montessori Education:

Dr. Montessori believed that no human being can be educated by another person. He / she must do it himself or it will never be done. Dr. Montessori felt that the goal of early childhood education should not be to fill the child with facts from a pre-selected course of studies, but rather to cultivate his own natural desire to learn.

In the Montessori classroom, this objective is approached in two ways. The first is allowing each child to experience the excitement of learning by their own choice rather than by being forced. The second is by helping them to perfect all their natural tools for learning, so that his / her ability will be at a maximum in future learning situations.
