Crla Costa Rican Language Academy:The Costa Rican Language Academy (CRLA) is a private institution specializing in Spanish language instruction. Since 1989, more than 15,000 students from all over the world have studied at CRLA, located in Barrio Dent, a very nice up-scale residential/commercial neighborhood in San Pedro, on the east side of San Jose.

We believe that to effectively learn and speak a foreign language, it is important to have an understanding of the culture where it is spoken. CRLA goes beyond the textbook by including cultural activities and educational trips to create a more well-rounded understanding of the Costa Rican culture and the Spanish language. CRLA is one of the few schools in Costa Rica completely owned and staffed by Costa Ricans, therefore ensuring a genuine cultural experience. Our immersion programs provide students with the opportunity to experience the language and culture of Costa Rica first-hand.
In a quiet, secure neighborhood, CRLA is close to places of interest for the students - across from the University of Costa Rica campus, close to the well-known San Pedro Mall and to a variety of restaurants, cinemas, banks, Internet cafes, and many stores. It is also a 20 minute walk from downtown San José and a short bus ride from our homestay families. CRLA has 28 comfortable classrooms, social areas, kitchen, a beautiful tropical garden and terrace, and a small café. Also available are a TV and a computer room where students can access the Internet for free. Homestays with carefully selected Costa Rican families.
Courses / Programs
4 levels of Spanish instruction: Beginners I
, II & III, Intermediate I, II & III, Advanced I, II & III, and Specialized courses. Spanish classes usually consist of 3 to 4 students, maximum six. New classes start every week of the year. Individual private classes are also available.Also: Homestay program, special volunteer work program, free daily Latin dance classes, Costa Rican cooking & conversation classes, excursions and cultural activities.

Experience Mission

Based in Port Hadlock, Washington, Experience Mission is a Christian mission organization offering a 6 month immersion program in the Caribbean region that starts by serving in one of South Atlanta's toughest neighborhoods before volunteering abroad in Haiti, Jamaica and Costa Rica. Experience Mission also offers a mission program in Africa, that starts in the Native American Navajo Nation of northeastern Arizona, before travelling to South Africa, Mozambique and Botswana. We currently do not provide Spanish classes as part of our program in Costa Rica.You will experience everything from the bustling inner city to the remotest parts of the rain-forest, building authentic relationships and partnering with local leaders to create sustainable change.
Our mission programs can be divided into three areas of focus: Volunteer Mobilization, Leadership Development, and Community Empowerment. These three distinct focuses are inextricably bound and share the common purpose of spreading the love of Christ to a world in need.
Christian Mission Program (6 months):

La Escuela Del Sol, Montezuma

La Escuela Del Sol in Costa Rica is an language immersion program for people who want to learn Spanish fast while having an adventure in a tropical paradise. We offer a 1 to 4 week, college level, Spanish language program as well as additional courses for adventure and self enhancement which can be combined with Spanish classes. Whether you want to learn fire dancing, surfing, obtain scuba certification or practice yoga, there is a course for you. We even offer College Credit for our Spanish curriculum! The Spanish school in Manuel Antonio , Costa Rica was started in 1992 and is today recognized as one of the best Spanish language schools in Costa Rica. In addition to offering excellent Spanish language programs, you will be hard pressed to find a more beautiful location within Costa Rica. The school itself sits on the side of a mountain overlooking the Manuel Antonio Beach Park Area and the Pacific. Classrooms are comfortable, and are situated both inside the building and outside on the comfortable patio. This school is the perfect option for those who want to get away from to the beaches and natural parks of Costa Rica, while at the same time learning Spanish.When students arrive at the Spanish school in Manuel Antonio, they are given an oral proficiency interview to determine their level. Based on this interview, they are placed tentatively in one of six levels. Once placed in a class, students will experience the schools' total immersion methodology. Classes are conducted completely in Spanish. The school uses custom designed curriculum and text materials.
Group Classes: 4 lessons per day in class sizes of no more than 6 individuals. Average class size ranges from 4-8 students. During four lessons sessions, students participate actively in a small group environment. Each student is assured attention to their individual academic needs. If total immersion becomes a difficulty, we offer supplemental instruction in English once a week in order to clarify any doubts.
