ILISA always recommends accommodation with one of our welcoming Costa Rican host families.

This is the perfect opportunity to practice your newly acquired Spanish skills in an informal setting outside of the classroom and to learn about Costa Rican culture first hand. Our host families have genuine interest in our students' culture and enjoy spending their meals with you.

Daily breakfast and dinner is included in this program, as well as laundry service. We can meet your personal needs - we have families consisting of a young couple with children, retired couples with adult children, no children at all, pets or no pets, families who are accustomed to welcoming middle aged students - we can find the perfect match for you!

Of course there are instances when staying with a host family or may not best suit your needs. For example, professionals who need both additional space and privacy to fulfill their work responsibilities while abroad may find a hotel or aparthotel more comfortable.

An aparthotel is a furnished apartment with an equipped kitchen and cleaning service. If you are unsure as to what type of housing is best for you, please feel free to contact us to discuss your situation, as we will be more than happy to recommend the most appropriate form of housing.

In addition to our excellent location in San Pedro, a university area and suburb of San Jose, our facilities themselves are unmatched by any language school in the region.

Unlike most schools, nearly all of our classrooms are purpose-built, providing optimum conditions for a language school. The beautiful view of the mountains from our restaurant invites our student to stay after class to enjoy and to mingle with other students.

Included in the program fee is airport pick up as well as several afternoon cultural activities, such as visits to the National Museum, the National theatre, tours around town or dance or cooking lessons.
