Bard College, located in Annandale-on-Hudson (90 miles north of New York City), New York, is a small four-year liberal arts college offering undergraduate and graduate degree programs. The liberal arts tradition at Bard is evident in the First-Year Seminar and in general courses that ground students in the essentials of inquiry and analysis and present a serious encounter with the world of ideas. The progressive tradition is reflected in Bard’s tutorial system and interdisciplinary curriculum, emphasizing independent and creative thought and the skills required to express those thoughts with power and effect.

Bard College is in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York, on the east bank of the Hudson River, about 90 miles north of New York City and 220 miles southwest of Boston. The area surrounding Bard offers plentiful activities for outdoor enthusiasts. Skiing, horseback riding, rock climbing, hiking, snowboarding, white-water rafting, cycling, mountain biking, ice skating, and canoeing are available. The area is also a center for spiritual life, containing churches of all denominations, temples, mosques, Zen and Tibetan Buddhist monasteries, and meditation centers.

By train
Amtrak provides service from Penn Station, New York City, and from Albany to Rhinecliff, about 9 miles south of Annandale. Taxi service is available at the station.

By automobile
In New York State, take the Taconic State Parkway to the Red Hook/Route 199 exit, drive west on Route 199 through the village of Red Hook to Route 9G, turn right onto Route 9G, and drive north 1.6 miles. Or take the New York State Thruway (I-87) to Exit 19 (Kingston), take Route 209 (changes to Route 199 at the Hudson River) over the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge to Route 9G, turn left onto Route 9G and drive north 3.5 miles.

By air
Bard College is accessible from Kennedy and LaGuardia airports in New York City; and from the airports in Newark, New Jersey, and Albany and Newburgh, New York.
