Founded in 1976, Montessori Children's Center (MCC) teaches students ages 2-6 years in its new custom-designed preschool located in the Parkmerced community in the southwest corner of San Francisco. Our preschool is based near San Francisco State University in the Villa Merced complex. We serve families from Sunset District, Balboa Terrace, Ingleside, Oceanview and throughout San Fransisco Bay communities.

Dedicated to the methods and vision of the reknowned educator Maria Montessori, the teachers at MCC consider themselves guides and facilitators rather than instructors, as children instinctively "learn how to learn," thus gaining independence and self-confidence. The Center has been accredited by the Association Montessori Internationale. The staff includes experienced Montessori teachers with extensive educational backgrounds and a qualified complementary staff.

Located on a beautiful 75-acre campus at the base of Mt. Diablo in Danville, Contra Costa County CA, The Athenian School is an independent co-educational college preparatory day and boarding school. We offer a day program for Middle School students (grades 6 - 8) from the East Bay region and day and boarding programs for Upper School students (grades 9 - 12) from the US and throughout the world.

Boarding students from throughout the world live in two dormitories, housing approximately 20 students each. More than 20 faculty members live on campus, providing extraordinary guidance and support for all students.

23. Katherine Michiels Elementary School
Courses / Programs
Katherine Michiels Elementary School is located on Guerrero Street between 25th Street and 26th Street in San Francisco's Mission District. We are easily accessible from both the 101 Freeway (via Cesar Chavez St.) and from the 280 northbound (via the San Jose exit). (KMS) is taking the lead in developing a progressive curriculum where art, music, dance, Spanish, language, outdoor education and creative writing are core to an academic program that is project based and specific to each of our learners.

Our unique curriculum takes inspiration from Mel Levine, Slingerland, Reggio Emilia Project Based Learning and similar techniques. Our program places a strong emphasis on social, academic and emotional development. We encourage children to take responsibility for themselves and others; and allow them freedom to develop a strong sense of self. Students benefit from a variety of dance opportunities including instruction from professional dance troups in the San Francisco area.

KMS owns a camp outside of Yosemite where it offers outdoor education instruction to students. Scholarships are available.

The Discovery Center School (DCS) is an independent, co-educational school for students in Kindergarten through to 12th grade. We are located in Northern Park, San Francisco, and are proud to serve families in Northern Park, Central North, Anza Vista, Hayes Valley, Inner Richmond, Laurel Heights, Pacific Heights and surrounding communites throughout the Bay area. Remarkable Girls is a unique theatre program located on the Peninsula in Millbrae and San Francisco in Northern CA, offering classes, private lessons, and performance opportunities to girls ages 9-18 years. Remarkable Girls was founded by former San Francisco talent agent and performance coach Jan Downing. The Jewish Family Preschool and Parenting Center of Congregation Beth Sholom is located on 14th Avenue (corner of Clement Street) in San Francisco, and offers high-quality, innovative secular and Jewish education for children and their families. We provide excellent teacher to child ratios, experienced, nurturing and highly qualified staff, clergy participation in Shabbat service and other Jewish holiday celebrations, access to resources and programming of Congregation Beth Sholom, child development specialist available for individual consultation and a resource library.
