We offer Cambridge University teacher training courses including CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) courses in San Diego, in Southern California. Our 4-week, full-time CELTA courses are available all year round.
Founded in 1999, StudyCELTA provides full and part-time English teacher training courses to students from all over the world. Our experience ranges from being currently practising English language teachers to having held management roles in language schools in Australasia and Europe.
In addition to our CELTA courses, we're here to give you our advice based on personal knowledge of San Diego, and of English language teaching as a career.
What is CELTA?
CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) is an initial English teacher qualification for people with little or no previous teaching experience, and opens up exciting teaching opportunities around the globe.
Over 10,000 students from all over the world successfully complete CELTA courses each year. CELTA Certificates are awarded by Cambridge English Language Assessment (part of the world-famous University of Cambridge), so you can rely on its quality and recognition.
This is a full-time, 4-week course. During the course, you will learn about the principles of effective teaching, and a variety of essential practical skills for teaching English to adult learners. You will have hands-on teaching practice, observe experienced teachers in the classroom, and complete 4 written assignments.
Modules include:
- Language analysis and awareness
- Developing teaching skills and professionalism
- Planning and resources for different contexts
- Learners & teachers / the teaching & learning context
- Language skills: reading, listening, speaking and writing
There are two components of assessment:
- Teaching Practice
- Written Assignments
The CELTA course at the teacher Training Center in San Diego was the most rewarding ESL certification program that I have ever taken part in.
Not only did I have great trainers, but the staff at the center was warm and welcoming. They were always ready to help me if I needed it, and they had more supplemental materials than I knew what to do with. I would recommend the CELTA program at the Teacher Training Center in San Diego to anyone who wants to pursue a career in ESL. The intensive, hands-on approach is much more beneficial than an online course or some here today gone tomorrow TESL certification. It is a lot of hard work, but you won’t regret it!
