Manor Courses:
Manor Courses is a family-run, residential summer school that offers English language courses for young international students. Established in 1970, we are located in West Sussex in the South of England, approximately 20 minutes drive from the famous city of Brighton (75km from London). We offer residential English language Summer courses for children aged 10-17, and their families. Students can choose to stay for 1-5 week courses during July and August. Our family (the Directors) live at the college all summer, and promise 24 hour support for students, parents, agents and teachers.

Manor Courses offers a warm and friendly environment in a beautiful location at Hurst College campus, set on 130 acres of Sussex countryside. Hurst College is a co-educational independent boarding school throughout the academic year, and during the summer the Directors of Manor Courses move in and turn it into a top international summer school. Hurst College has an exciting range of first class sports, social and residential facilities, all of which are on-site and within easy walking distance.

The 130-acre Hurst College campus is situated between two rural villages, Hurstpierpoint and Hassocks. The nearest train station is Hassocks, which is on the Brighton to London Victoria line. The famous city of Brighton is a 20 minute drive from the school.

Our English courses, for all levels, include 18 hours of English language tuition per week. Each child is given a placement test and interview on arrival to ensure that they are placed at a level that best suits their learning needs. Our English courses are suited for all levels from beginner to advanced. Class sizes are kept small to allow for individual attention. The average class size is 12 and the maximum is 15 students.

We combine several essential components to provide our students with the ultimate summer school experience, including a dedication to high-quality tuition and stimulating sports and social activities programme with professional supervision. Over the years we have been expanding, welcoming an increasing number of nationalities.

Qualified & Highly-Experienced English Teachers:
Our team of EFL teachers are appropriately qualified, some return to work for Manor Courses for many years. The teachers employ a range of teaching methods and techniques to ensure that the English lessons are lively and challenging. Each group of students has 2 teachers - after break they change teacher. This gives students a variety of teaching styles, accents, ages, nationality, gender etc. All teachers are native-English speakers (mostly British but also from a variety of nationalities)

Manor Courses are now pleased to provide a study option for the whole family. These courses are for families with children already enrolled on the standard residential course at Hurst College. We can also offer English courses for the parents / younger brothers and sisters of the enrolled student.

English Tuition for Parents and Younger Bothers/Sisters:
- Come to UK with your children (or brother/sister) and study privately with us at Hurst College.
- Students aged 10-17 will be in residence at the college.
- Parents and younger siblings will take residence in a local Guest House or a local bed and breakfast e.g.: Little Turrets or Wickham Place.

In addition to English classes, our well-structured residential summer course offers an extensive sports and recreational activity programme. This includes:

- MC Sport:
MC Sport provides an extensive range of sports activities organised by our team of young and friendly sports leaders. There are 15 sessions each week, including football, basketball, tennis, swimming, archery, rock climbing and much more.

- MC Art:
Students can visit the MC Art room every afternoon and evening and enjoy creative arts and crafts activities. There are 15 sessions each week. All materials are supplied and students are welcome to take home what they have produced.

- MC Performance:
MC Performance activities offer students the opportunity to explore and develop their talents in music, drama and performing arts. There are 15 sessions each week. These are sessions not lessons - they offer students an introduction and allow them to explore and develop their interest at their own pace.

- MC Excursions:
We offer weekly cultural and historical excursions as well as guided tours to London, Oxford, Canterbury, Brighton...

Our activity programme ensures students experience enjoyable and continuous learning throughout the day. We provide a truly international atmosphere by welcoming students from every continent. This encourages students to communicate in their common language - English.

Our family presence creates an ambiance that reassures and comforts those who may be away from home for the first time. With our warm family presence and the safe location of Hurst College, parents are assured that their children are well-looked after and will thoroughly benefit from their stay with Manor Courses.

Our students are accommodated in separate boarding houses for girls and boys. All boarding houses are within walking distance of all the facilities. Accommodation ranges from single and twin study rooms to dormitories with washing facilities on each floor. Requests for room shares or particular allocations are offered subject to availability. Each house has a common room with TV, a kitchenette, and a pay phone. Laundry is done three times a week. Our staff live in the same houses to supervise the students.

Full-board:
3 meals per day are supplied. All meals are taken in the very traditional oak panelled Dining room. There is always a choice of healthy food at every meal. We also supply two refreshment breaks, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

Most students come by plane and we meet them at the major London airports (Heathrow or Gatwick). Manor Courses representatives in uniform meet your child at the airport and escort them by private coaches to Hurst College. Alternatively, parents can drop off students at Hurst College. At the end of the course, we escort all students back to the airport, assist with check-in and take them to passport control.

In addition to our classic residential course we now offer 2 NEW options.

1. English on the Road is 1 week classic residential course at Hurst PLUS 1 week in London  with the teachers; where the English language development is integrated into the daily life, experiences and excursions.

2. Live Art is 1 week classic residential course PLUS 1 week totally focused on Performing Arts course – where the English language development is integrated into performing arts sessions ( so on this last week they do not go into class but learn English through the new performing arts syllabus)
