Northwood Preparatory School occupies an historic site and is conveniently situated near Watford and Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire with easy access from major motorways, central London and is also well served by main and tube lines and bus routes. The school is divided into 3 sections: Nursery School (boys and girls age 3+) Little Terry's; Junior School (boys ages 4-7), includes Reception; Senior School (boys ages 7-13).

Class teachers in Junior School and Form Teachers in Senior School monitor social and academic progress, keeping parents and colleagues fully informed. Each child in Senior Schools belongs to one of four Houses. This helps develop a sense of team spirit as well as providing a framework for discipline. House points are awarded to reinforce good work or behaviour and minus marks for inappropriate actions. If there is a serious breach of our disciplinary code, a red card may be issued which informs parents immediately of the situation. In extreme cases, the Headmaster reserves the right to suspend the child from attending school. Discipline is firm but consistently clear and is based on our “Fair Rules” which have been agreed by staff, pupils and parents alike.

There are clear lines of communication between home and school. We keep parents fully informed about school news through a regular newsletter. Detailed reports enable parents to stay closely involved in their son’s progress. Parents’ Evenings are held regularly. These helpful sessions encourage the partnership process to thrive, enabling us to work together to reward achievement and to cultivate best efforts. Speech Day is the culmination of the year’s accomplishments and is a tremendously enjoyable occasion.
