Co-Educational Boarding & Day School Programs (Grades 9-12)
Western Reserve Academy offers an exciting and fulfilling academic experience that goes well beyond simply meeting requirements. Here is what parents and students tell us they value about a WRA education.

Challenging curriculum:
Students are encouraged to stretch themselves to take full advantage of all WRA offers, building on academic strengths and bolstering weaknesses. Our hope is that as students accept the challenge of advanced work in areas of strength, they will also "keep in touch" with all major disciplines.

Recent course additions:
Over the last few years, several exciting new classes have been added to our list of course offerings:

- Biotechnology: This is an addition to topics in life science options. A half-credit course for juniors and seniors, this class covers basic methods in biotechnology for the manipulation of nucleic acids. Emphasis is placed on topics concerning techniques used in recombinant DNA technology, including PCR, restriction digests, mapping, cloning, forensics, and bioethics.

- Mandarin Chinese II: With the success of Mandarin Chinese I, the language department has added a level II course.

- AP Art History: This is a cross-cultural survey of art from the dawn of civilization to the present time. Painting, sculpture, architecture and decorative art will be examined with an emphasis not only on the work of art, but on the role of the artist, the audience and the time period in which the work was produced.

AP courses offered:
- Music Theory
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Physics
- English
- U.S. History
- European History
- Microeconomics

The Advisor Program:

While all faculty members at WRA seek to model the school's core values, each teacher also serves as the primary contact between the school and parents for a small group of students. Faculty advisors facilitate the transition to WRA and continue to monitor their advisees' overall well-being, academic progress and growth.
