Avenue to Broadway:
Avenue to Broadway is a dance studio located in Lakehurst, Ocean County, New Jersey that offers many disciplines of dance to kids, teenagers and adults. We teach ballet, tap dancing, hip hop, jazz, Irish step dancing, acrobatics and zumba and more to students of all ages and levels. Our classes are capped to maintain a low student to teacher ratio, allowing for personal and meaningful instruction for each student.

Avenue to Broadway offers the following dance classes:

Ballet:
A progressive system of classical instruction designed to provide carefully graded classes for the preschooler through the pre-professional. The program also meets the needs of the individual who wishes to study ballet for personal fulfillment. All ballet classes introduce vocabulary and technical skills, including positions and alignment through barre and center floor work.

Tap:
Develops agility, musicality and stylized movement through a variety of percussive rhythms created by the dancer's foot through the use of the tap shoe. Dancers study basic to advanced tap technique, rhythm, coordination, and style. Students develop overall body coordination.

Jazz:
An upbeat class that uses a variety of musical styles in order to perform movement based on body part isolation, sequential movement, turns, and jumps, culminating in a longer dance combination. As students progress through the levels, more advanced combinations and different styles of jazz are introduced.

Irish Step Dancing:
Type of folk dance that has been recently popularized by the world-famous "Riverdance" and "Lord of the Dance". The dance form has its roots in Ireland. When performed as a solo dance, it is generally characterized by a stiff upper body and the quick and precise movements of the feet.

Hip Hop:
A funky class of sweat, soul and street working with today's popular music. It is a fun and trendy class that will teach rhythmical, original, and energetic moves!

Hip Hop For Boys!:
Sorry girls, this one's only for the boys. The latest in hip-hop dance: popping, locking, and breaking. It takes a lot of practice to master this dance form, so be ready for a challenge!

Contemporary:
Blends the grace of ballet, the expression of modern and the musicality of jazz into a beautiful, interpretive dance style. Dancers are given the opportunity to explore the lyrics and incorporate them into movement thus expressing their own individuality.

Acrobatics:
A gymnastic style class teaching floor tumbling skills. Both arched back and straight back tricks are introduced. The curriculum develops flexibility, strength and balance while exposing students to a wide range of tricks and stunts. Instructors are trained to properly spot students of various sizes and abilities.

Zumba Classes:
Spring Zumba Classes are Every Monday and Thursday
Starting June 28th Zumba Classes are Every Monday and Wednesday

Tot Bop Classes: Ages 2-3, 30 minutes:
Developmentally appropriate activities for the smallest dancers in acrobatics, creative movement, music and coordination. Lessons provide an introduction to various dance styles and encouragement of self-expression and socialization

Tiny Dancers Classes: Ages 4-5, 60 minutes:
Introduces young dancers to a combination of different dance genres in a developmentally specific class
Movement and creativity are inspired within a positive environment. Dancers will learn basic steps and terminology in the styles they choose from the classes below:
