Cardigan Mountain School (CMS) is an accredited boarding and day middle school for boys in grades 6-9. Located in Canaan, New Hampshire in the New England corner of the north-eastern United States, CMS instills a love of learning and promotes intellectual curiosity and growth, recognizing that each person learns differently.


Location and Facilities:

 

The School is located off a quiet, secluded street in a typical New England village. The campus itself is situated on a peninsula extending into Canaan Street Lake, 1,200 feet above sea level. Within sight of Mount Cardigan, the campus enjoys views of surrounding hills and valleys.

The campus comprises 525 acres of woods, fields, and lake shore, with colonial brick dormitories, a well-stocked library, modern classrooms, woodworking shop, language laboratory, chapel, student health center, theater, athletic complex, and state-of-the-art hockey arena.

Directions / Instructions:

From Boston/Logan Airport:
- Take Interstate 93 North toward Concord, N.H.
- At the junction of Interstate 93 and Interstate 89, take Interstate 89 North.
- Depart I-89 North at 17 (Enfield/Canaan), and take a right at the end of the exit ramp onto Route 4 East.
- Proceed approximately 11 miles on Route 4 East, and then take a left on Roberts Road after the Cardigan Mountain School sign.
- At the end of Roberts Road, turn left onto Canaan Street.
- Proceed approximately one mile on Canaan Street and turn right onto Prospect Hill Road at the Cardigan Mountain School sign.
- At the next Cardigan Mountain School sign, turn right onto Back Bay Road.
- At the top of the hill, turn right onto Founders' Path at the Cardigan Mountain School Admissions sign, and proceed directly ahead to the visitor parking area in front of Clark-Morgan Hall.


From Interstate 91/Hartford/New York/Points South:
- Follow Interstate 91 North to Vermont.
- Take Exit 10S (Airport/New Hampshire) and merge onto Interstate 89 South.
- Depart I-89 South at Exit 17 (Enfield/Canaan), and take a right at the end of the exit ramp onto Route 4 East. Proceed approximately 11 miles on Route 4 East, and then take a left on Roberts Road just after the Cardigan Mountain School sign.

Turning Winds Academic Institute (TWAI)

Located in northwestern Montana, Turning Winds Academic Institute (TWAI) is an accredited, family-run, therapeutic boarding school for troubled teens (boys and girls) ages 13-18 from Vermont and across the United States.

In our beautiful, peaceful, and safe location, we combine the benefits of a therapeutic boarding school, a wilderness program, and a residential treatment center (RTC).

TWAI has been serving struggling teens and their families since 2002, with an exceptional degree of success.

We provide an extremely high standard of therapeutic treatment to our students, and offer help for the following presenting issues: poor academic performance, behavioral problems, addictions, low self-worth, spectrum disorders, ADD/ADHD, and attachment disorders among others.

With a passion for helping young people in crisis, our clinical, educational, and operations staff are among the best in the country.

We are a small program (40 students) which means that we are able to provide a truly unique and customized approach for every student.

Typically our on site student to staff ratio is 5:1. The average stay at our residential treatment center is 12 months.

We create a customized program for each student that requires a minimum of 3 months. However, best results for lasting success are realized through 6+ months of treatment.

TWAI graduates average a 3.5 GPA. It is common for a student to complete 1.5 years of course work in 1 year.

Brewster Academy is a a co-educational boarding and day school for Grades 9-12 that focuses on technology. Located in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire (2 hours north of Boston), we provide students with the academic, personal, and social skills necessary for success in a university or college, and for life.

Our curriculum, delivered using best practice methodologies, aims to maximize retention of skills and content through a collaborative, student-centered, mastery-learning program.

It is recommended that students enroll in the most challenging courses possible and, where appropriate, elect Advanced Placement and accelerated levels.
