Sunny Hollow Montessori:
Located in Saint Paul in Ramsey County in the Twin Cities / Minneapolis-Saint Paul area, Sunny Hollow is an AMI (Association Montessori Internationale) accredited Montessori school providing preschool and elementary programs to children aged three through to twelve years. The school achieved AMI (Association Montessori Internationale) accreditation in 2005. Sunny Hollow Montessori was founded in 1981 by Mary Sue Dobbin. The school is established as a non-profit organization and is directed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Sunny Hollow Montessori cultivates each child's intellectual and creative potential, appreciation of relationships in nature and society, and sense of individual responsibility. We follow the educational philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori as set forth by the Association Montessori Internationale.
The Montessori system of education is a philosophy developed around a child's natural growth and the rationale for guiding such growth. The system is based on the child’s developmental needs for freedom within limits. In a carefully prepared environment, the child is guaranteed exposure to materials and experiences through which to develop intelligence as well as physical and psychological abilities.
The Montessori environment is designed to take full advantage of the child’s self-motivation and unique ability to develop his or her own capabilities.
Quality Faculty:
Each Montessori classroom is staffed by a certified AMI Montessori trained guide. Sunny Hollow employs both assistant teachers and child care aides as needed based on student enrollment and our license requirement to maintain staff/student ratios. All staff are Red Cross certified in First Aid / CPR and Bloodborne Pathogens.
- Preschool programs for ages 3-6 years: The Montessori Primary environment / “Children’s House” is designed to call to the child’s specific & heightened sensitivities that characterize this stage of development. Each Children’s House is prepared with a full complement of Montessori materials that provide a unique educational experience in the areas of Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, and Mathematics.
- Elementary School programs: This is the time to use one’s mind to explore all the areas of knowledge, to learn how to carry out research, and to develop creative ways of processing, exploring and expressing this knowledge. A Montessori elementary teacher gives lessons in all academic areas and guides the children in direction and methods of their own research.

The Audubon Center of the North Woods, located in Sandstone, east-central Minnesota, is a private, non-profit, residential environmental learning center (RELC), and it is a leader in offering meaningful nature experiences to people of all ages. We are conveniently located six miles from Interstate 35, only about 90 miles from the Twin Cities (St. Paul & Minneapolis), St Cloud, Duluth, and Brainerd.Through our Summer Youth Camps Program, we will provide an opportunity to engage kids in nature through immersion in the wild outdoors to promote environmental awareness, compassion and leadership and an ethic of care for the earth. It is also a wildlife rehabilitation facility, and conference and retreat center.
