Carousel School:
Carousel School is a non-public school in Southwest LA providing preschool, elementary school through high school programs for children with special needs or disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Asperger’s syndrome, Down syndrome, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), and communication disorders. We also provide an Adult Day Program (ADP) for adults 18-55. Carousel School is located at 7899 La Tijera Blvd. in Southwest LA, just off the Interstate 405 (San Diego Freeway), close to Ladera Heights, Inglewood and Los Angeles International Airport.

Carousel is certified by the California State Department of Education, and meets or exceeds all state program requirements. Carousel is open year-round, offering an After-School Socialization Program during the summer, winter, and spring breaks. Saturday Camp is also available.

Year-round Programs for Kids, Youth & Adults with Special Needs or Disabilities:

About Our School:

Carousel School’s curriculum and activity programming include students on both a general education curriculum (with accommodations and modifications) and an alternate curriculum. Students also enjoy many of Carousel’s extracurricular activities such as art, dance, social skills group, and physical education.  Along with a student’s IEP (Individualized Education Program), Carousel’s teachers utilize the California Content Standards and the Curriculum Guide for Students with Moderate to Severe Disabilities as tools to develop the curriculum and lessons each year. Teachers also make modifications and adaptations to lessons and their teaching to accommodate each student’s needs. The use of manipulatives and hands-on experiences are integrated into lessons whenever possible to make learning more exciting and interactive.

Transdisciplinary Team:
Our therapeutic and educational staff regularly reviews new approaches and interventions to provide our children and families with the most effective individualized and innovative supports. Our licensed and credentialed transdisciplinary team includes the following professionals:
- Occupational Therapists; Speech and Language Therapists; Physical Therapists; Behavioral Specialists; Early Intervention Therapists; Special Education Teachers.
