Based in the Southern Athens suburb of Glyfada, Babel Language Centre (BLC) specializes in the teaching of Modern Greek to adults of all nationalities. Babel Language Centre was established in 1998 by professional language instructors with long standing experience in the teaching of language, both in Greece and abroad.

Foundation:
The founders are both native speakers of Greek and share a genuine interest in Modern Greek culture, literature, history and linguistic research. They are also language instructors with long standing experience in the teaching of Modern Greek as a foreign language to adults. They taught Modern Greek for many years in Australian Language Centres and Universities and, now, in Greece.
The school has developed an excellent reputation and its Modern Greek Language Courses have attracted learners of all nationalities from all over the world.
- Develop Greek Fluency
Our aim is to consolidate learning and create opportunities for developing fluency, not simply to get through a course book. Prescribed textbooks and workbooks are regularly supplemented by the school's original material distributed in class.
- Structured, Goal-Oriented Classes
Although we believe firmly that learning has to be fun to be effective, we also know that it has to be wholesome. Therefore our emphasis on structured speaking always has grammatical objectives and all four functions of the language are covered quite methodically in class (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing)
- Spoken / Modern Greek Emphasis
We place emphasis on spoken Modern Greek. Instructors make extensive use of communication activities, situation dialogues, and speaking games.
Our friendly instructors are all fully qualified teachers and native speakers of Greek. They are talented, conscientious and sensitive to learners needs with extensive experience in the teaching of Greek as a foreign language to adults.

The Hellenic American Union in Thessaloniki & Athens, Greece, is a public-service institution with an international focus and strong community commitment, dedicated to providing opportunities for a diverse range of audiences to encounter and benefit from innovative educational programs and cultural events. Lord Byron Schools of Languages provides year-round modern Greek language courses in our city centre school in Thessaloniki in Central Macedonia in Northern Greece, approximately 515 km (320 miles) north of Athens. We offer special tailor-made courses in Greek for specific purposes, activities and entertainment during the week, excursions and visits on a weekly basis and much more. We also have an international summer school in Gerakini and Ouranoupoli, Chalkidiki in West Macedonia in Northern Greece. From Thessaloniki, Gerakini is 80 km (50 miles) and Ouranoupoli is 140 km (87 miles). Our summer school runs during the holidays with 4 or 5 hours Greek language tuition per day.
