Shankill Languages offers language tuition in Shankill, a suburb in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County in south-east Dublin. We offer language classes for students of all ages. We specialise in providing grinds for Leaving Certificate & Junior Certificate students preparing for their French, Irish, Spanish, German and Italian exams.

Leaving and Junior Cert Grinds in French, Irish, German, Spanish & Italian:
Our aim is to promote clarity of understanding. Such a clarity will result in less errors and the students are taught to visualize a series of boxes to be ticked in their head when writing during the exam. These boxes are check lists in the grammatical construction of the sentence and therefore error is systematically eliminated and marks gained. Emphasis also on use of language that makes the student stand out from his/her peers, thereby creating a sense of professionalism in the written work that will be a positive change for the examiner. This will be reflected in the marks received.

Intense conversation, covering all likely topics and encouraging ALL aspects of communication, including non verbal and accent. Intensive work in the area substantially increases fluency and confidence. Mock one to one orals are also given repeatedly before the exam and marked by our tutors with feedback.

The aural part of the exam is crucial and no effort is spared in increasing confidence in listening. Past papers are used but also radio programmes and television broadcasts from the country are used in order to give the student a sense on the language in a real context in the country that goes beyond exam texts. When the ear becomes accustomed to native speakers in a real context, the exam becomes far easier to master with confidence.
