Academy by the Sea/Camp Pacific:
Academy by the Sea/Camp Pacific, located in Carlsbad, north of San Diego, California, is an ACA-Accredited Camp offering enriching academic and recreational summer programs for boys and girls ages 7-17. During their stay, all students and campers receive specialized instruction in their areas of interest. While mornings are dedicated to educational classes and clinics, afternoons are devoted to the pursuit of recreational activities, allowing students and campers to experience a variety of options. Operating as a college-preparatory boarding school for boys during the academic year, summer sees the campus transformed into a co-educational environment hosting a unique mix of students from all over the U.S. and the world.

Enrichment Program - 4 weeks:
The enrichment session offered by The Academy by the Sea/ Camp Pacific is a co-educational program that balances academics and recreation for a fulfilling experience. Designed especially for students in grades 7-11, the academic program helps students prepare for their upcoming school year and for the academic experiences that lie ahead in secondary education. We offer the option of being a boarding or day student; however, boarding is encouraged as the dormitory experience is an important part of a student’s overall learning and enjoyment. Boarding students also have the benefit of participating in a mandatory evening study hall, afternoon activities, and weekend excursions to local attractions.

Study Skills; Math; Reading; Writing; Science Oceanography; Computer Journalism; Media Production; ESL*

*Anyone interested in improving their conversational English skills has the opportunity to take an ESL course for an extra $250.

Credit Program - 4 weeks:
Students interested in earning course credit during our summer session may take a maximum of two courses. Credit courses are offered for students needing to make up a previous semester course or to prepare for fall coursework. If a student received a D or F during the academic year, they have a chance to make up half of the semester with 1 course, and a full semester with 2 courses.

College Preparation & Readiness Education Program (C-PREP) - 4 weeks:
During this program, students will develop skills to help them prepare for college life and facilitate the selection process when it comes to choosing the most appropriate college or university. With an emphasis on life skills and SAT or ACT testing, students will learn techniques and strategies that will help them increase their scores and proceed through the admissions process with confidence. Supervised tours of schools within the UC, CSU and private systems expose participants to a variety of campus environments. This experience allows them to determine which system may be most compatible with their own interests and personality. After its completion, this course will enable students to make informed academic decisions and life choices to ensure the most successful college experience possible.

Camp Pacific - 3 weeks:
Camp Pacific has been providing campers with unforgettable experiences since 1943, with a focus on providing a safe and fun program that enhances teamwork, self-improvement and sportsmanship. Our three-week recreational camp hosts campers ages 7 and up from across the United States and around the world. Experienced staff directs a variety of activities that help campers create everlasting memories and friendships.

Activity Options include:
Swim Instruction; Scuba Instruction/Certification; Lifeguard Certification; Surf Instruction Sports; Arts; Games; Many more!

Surf and Bodyboard Camps - 1 week:
Academy by the Sea/ Camp Pacific offers two week-long Surf and Bodyboard Camps - one in July and one in August. Campers are taught valuable skills in equipment options, wave selection, and basic surfing/ bodyboarding techniques. Our surf and bodyboard camps are designed to teach campers how to improve their surfing/ bodyboarding skills. Each session is one week long and packed full of fun activities. Group beach instruction, classroom instruction, and independent practice are combined for a very dynamic week of learning using hard and soft boards.

Athletic Training Camps:

Nonresidential athletic training camps will be provided to the local community. Training programs will focus on the development of athletic skills in designated sports. Please contact us for details.

Camp Challenge - 5 weeks:
Academy by the Sea offers the only summer leadership course west of the Mississippi where students can earn full credit for JROTC. Designed for high school aged students, grades 9-12, our JROTC Leadership Course will reward successful participants with 180 hours of Leadership Education and Training (LET). During our five-week course, young men and women will gain valuable experience in learning to lead and learning to follow. Participants will gain self-confidence as leaders and active team members. Adding JROTC leadership to a high school transcript sets a college applicant apart from fellow high school students. Lifeguard Certification and Scuba Certification are offered to applicants that qualify.

Counselor in Training Program:
While enrolled in tPicture of Summer Camp for Kids & Teens in Carlsbad, CAhis program, students will be given the opportunity to immerse themselves in an environment that will challenge and develop them into strong leaders and knowledgeable summer program planners. This program is held during Camp Pacific and will allow the participant to join in all of the activities and mentor the younger campers.

TechKnowHow started providing afterschool computer classes to students in 1994.
