CES College, Los Angeles County:
Located in Burbank, Los Angeles County, California, 12 miles north of downtown Los Angeles, Community Enhancement Services (CES) College offers English as a Second Language (ESL) programs and vocational education programs. We opened our educational facilities in 1995 with a purpose to offer education opportunities to address the unique needs of individuals and communities served by CES, by providing adults with the knowledge and skills necessary for employment, skill upgrades, career changes and / or advanced education.

ESL Courses / Programs:

- English as a Foreign Language (ESL) Program:
CES College EFL program is designed for international students who desire to improve their command of English for professional reasons or to be able to attend an American University or college. Whether you never studied English, have some basic understanding of everyday vocabulary and sentence structure, or even if you are an advanced student, our EFL program is designed for you. When you arrive, CES staff will assess your level and place you at the correct level for the optimum learning experience.

CES College is registered with the Educational Testing Service (ETS) and is a Certified TOEFLibt Test Center. 

- Homestay Program with a Local American Family:
Immerse yourself in the English language and American culture by living locally with an American family.

- Vocational English as a Second Language (VESL-725) Program:
CES College has created a specialized VESL program that assists immigrants and refugees find meaningful employment in the U.S. labor market by providing them with sufficient training in ESL so that they are able to utilize their education and technical skills, which they bring from their native countries.

VESL-725 curriculum gives students the language they need to identify transferable job skills, their strengths and weaknesses and possible job goals as well as to become better communicators in a work setting. Curriculum includes lessons in English grammar, reading, writing, listening and speaking as well as American business culture and employability. The course is 47.5 / 24 semester credit hours (725 clock hours).

- Advanced Vocational English as a Second Language (AVESL) Program:
The Advanced VESL program is a comprehensive course with a special emphasis on employment related applications. It is designed to meet the job-specific English language requirements, develop ability to use English in everyday personal and workplace situations, and acquire advanced proficiency in the four language skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. The course will provide the students with the skills necessary for better employment opportunities, job retention and upward mobility by allowing them to gain a higher level of English competency required for successful employment. 

Prerequisite:  Score 221 or higher on CASAS test and 70% or better on the CES VESL entrance test. The course is 42 / 24 semester credit hours (725 clock hours).
