Students study both practical and theoretical subjects in studio, painting methods & techniques, sculpture, drawing, modernism & contemporary art history & theory, photography and moving image. Students are encouraged to pursue individual directions whilst learning a range of both technical and theoretical strategies. Through small class sizes, concentrated one-on-one teaching, exposure to leading artists and exhibitions, having their own studio, students gain intensive individual nurturing enabling them to rapidly develop their creative direction and identify their own independent fine art practice.
Students also gain exhibition experience within the Latrobe College Gallery and have the opportunity to participate in accredited study trips to New York, the Venice Biennale or Berlin.

In this one year intensive program students learn a wide range of photo-practice skills and techniques, from fine art and photo documentation through to advertising and commercial photography. Photo-techniques from analogue to the latest digital imaging are covered. Small class sizes and one-to-one teaching allow students to rapidly forge their creative direction. The program is dedicated to image-makers and artists interested in developing their work, building their technical skills, and engaging in classes that help them to understand their work in relation to the images that shape our contemporary culture. The course enables students to go onto degree level study or to enter the industry as a photographer. Students work on up to date Mac computers using Creative Suite, using Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Lightroom, and more. The course enables students to go onto degree level study or to enter the industry as a photographer. Working with both digital analogue media subjects will include Image Capture, Beyond Image Capture, Photomedia, Imaging & Graphics, Descriptive & Emotive Lighting, Seeing Colour, Image Trends, and Photography Studio.

Study GRAPHIC DESIGN (1 year):
This course is the nationally accredited CUA50715 Diploma of Graphic Design. This course area will open up opportunities for individuals, intent on working in the graphics and communication industry. The course is contemporary, innovative and provides a balance in skills based education with applied creative direction. Students will be equipped with an understanding of fundamental design practices including concept development, typography, layout design and creative thinking. They will gain practical skills across the industry’s leading creative software package, Creative Suite, along with a sound knowledge of professional practice and design theory. Students gain exposure to Contemporary design trends and explore the dynamics of print and digital design including packaging, publication and website design. Participants develop a folio of creative work spanning branding and identity through to digital and print layout design, photography and drawing. This program encourages students to develop their creative skill-set in preparation for a career in the field of design.

Rings Road Art Studio is a privately owned working art studio in Moorabbin, a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria. We offer tutored and untutored drawing and painting classes for adults at beginner and intermediate levels. We also offer portfolio preparation classes for teenagers and adults. Classes will assist participants at all levels of skill and experience to develop observational and interpretive methods in drawing and painting.
