The two most common types of Master's degrees are the Master of Arts (M.A.) and Master of Science (M.S.); these may be course-based, research-based, or (more typically) a mixture of the two.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.):
The University typically requires international students to have attained a Master's degree or can demonstrate that they have acquired significant independent research skills at a Bachelor's programme. As the UK PhD style of research is very self-directed and independent, international students should carefully consider if they have the required motivation and sustained dedication to produce a thesis after three or four years of independent self-driven research.

Pre-sessional English Programmes:
During your course all tuition, examinations and subject materials will be in English. In order to benefit from a course of study, you will need a good understanding of the English language.
