Grenoble INP - Ense3:
Ecole Nationale Supérieure de l'Energie, l'Eau et l'Environnement (Ense3) is an engineering school that is part of the Grenoble Institute of Technology which is ranked among the very best Grandes Ecoles (graduate schools) in France. It is located 300 miles from Paris, in the Rhône-Alpes region of Southeastern France. Ense3 offers a range of master degree programs in the fields of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, civil and environmental engineering. Three of our master's programs are taught in English. Ense3 welcomes approx. 100 international students each year.
Master Degree Programs:(Each programme offers the opportunity to pursue with a PhD.)
Master of Science in Hydraulic and Civil Engineering- Hydraulic Engineering (taught in English):
The fresh water resources of our planet must be managed more efficiently each day and in a sustainable way. This programme aims at training specialists in both the public and private sectors capable of adressing today's and future issues and needs in hydraulic and civil engineering, hydraulic works and infrastructures, hydrology, and water resources management.
Master of Science in Electrical Electrical Engineering for Smart Grids and Buildings
- Electrical Engineering for Smart Grids and Buildings (taught in English):
Grids and buildings, a major concern for our societies, experience profound technological changes converging both through the smart grid where the buildings are an essential link via active consumers. The Smart Buildings and Grids master proposes a 20 month full time technical high level training, which takes into account economic, societal and cultural aspects, to prepare students for the challenges of tomorrow, managing the total energy chain (production, distribution, use). This Master relies on the outstanding scientific and technological environment of Grenoble in the field of energy.
Master in Fluid Mechanics and Energetics:
- International Master in Fluid Mechanics and Energetics (taught in English)
Education focuses on fluid mechanics and subsequent applications:
* Production or energy conversion with turbomachinery, nuclear energy
* Transportation (aerodynamics, propulsion, combustion),
* Renewable energy or sustainable development which involve hydraulics (rivers, off-shore or marine science), wind or solar engineering,
* Chemical engineering and transport phenomena involved in :
o microfluidics developments in bio- or MEMS-technologies,
o metallurgy,
o petroleum industry,
o industrial safety,
o wastewater treatment,
o food and feed industry,
o health and care industry.
Masters in Energy Field (taught in French):
Master degree programs in:
- Electrical Power Engineering (taught in French):
This Specialization program trains engineers so that they will be competent at design, innovation and development of either electrical components or systems. It also provides the skills required for engineers when leading an installation project, managing a network, as a part of a design or research team or as a business engineer, mainly in the economic sectors of energy, transport and civil engineering.
- Mechanical & Energy Engineering (taught in French):
The Mechanical and Energy Engineering branch trains engineers in the skills required for design, trials, calculations, research development and operations supervision in the domains of transport (aeronautical, aerospace, automotive), traditional and renewable energies (production and conservation), thermal and hydraulic industries, the oil sector and process engineering.
- Nuclear & Energy Engineering (taught in French):
Students taking this program will learn the scientific and technical skills necessary for the operation of nuclear energy production systems. It provides a global view of the full energy conversion chain and expertise in the required complex modeling and simulation.
- Energy Systems and Associated Markets (taught in French):
This Specialization trains engineers for the following careers: research and design engineer, account manager, project manager, energy purchasing, consultant energy engineer, business engineer, systems engineer. The main sectors involved are energy, construction, transport and markets.
- Hydraulics, Civil & Environmental Engineering (taught in French):
In the fields concerned by this Specialization program, students will need skills related to measuring, trouble-shooting, modeling, simulation, design and operation within the contexts of hydraulics, the environment and civil engineering. This program is designed to train engineers in the fields of hydraulics, civil engineering and hydrology in order to pursue the following careers: consultant engineer, R&D engineer and project manager in Hydraulics and Civil Engineering, building engineer, head of technical services for local authorities and manager of potable water networks or water treatment.
- Automatic Control, Systems and Information Technology (taught in French):
This program is a two-year (120 ECTS) Engineering Program covering the following skills: Analysis, modeling and simulation of dynamical systems, Design and optimization of controlled systems, Design of embedded control systems, System supervision, monitoring and reconfiguration, Acquisition and signal processing, Personal development, Management and industrial engineering.
- Signal & Image Processing, Communication Systems & Multimedia (taught in French):
The demand for engineers in this field is increasing due to the fact that signal and image processing, communication and multimedia technologies are heavily involved in many industrial sectors, such as information industries, telecommunications, the biomedical sector and the leisure industry. The objective of this Specialization is the training of high level engineers with expertise in signal processing, computers and electronics, capable of developing industrial projects in the relevant sectors.
