Established in 1984, we are registered and audited by the New Zealand Qualification Authority (NZQA). What is the CELTA course?

It lasts 4 weeks and gives you the skills and opportunity to acquire English language teaching positions across the globe.  Accredited by the University of Cambridge (UK), it is an internationally recognised teaching qualification and is accepted throughout the world by organisations which employ English Language teachers.

Who can do CELTA?

Image of CELTA / TEFL / TESOL Courses in Auckland, NZApplicants must be at least 18 years old at the start of the course and have studied to a level which allows entrance to tertiary education. A tertiary level diploma or degree is preferable, but not essential. A high level of spoken and written English is required.

Non-native speakers should have an English level equivalent to an "A" pass in CAE (Certificate in Advanced English, Cambridge ESOL) or an IELTS 7.5. Your level will be checked during the CELTA application process. If your level of proficiency in English is not high enough, you can always consider other courses such as the TESOL + TKT course also offered in Auckland.

It's important for candidates to have an open and inquisitive nature and be willing to learn and try new things. An interest in language and other cultures will definitely help too.

We also run 5-week TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and TECSOL (Teaching English to Child Speakers of Other Languages) courses for non-native speakers, culminating in the TKT examinations.
