Co-ed Boarding & Day School Programmes for Students Ages 3-18+

Middle School:
The school day is very busy. This ensures that students are active and challenged. More importantly in the early stages of a student’s time at Rossall it allows your son/ daughter to meet lots of people and develop friendships fast. The structure of the day also gives students very strong direction from day to day, preventing them from getting bored lonely, or home sick.

At Year 7, yourPhoto of Boarding School / Sixth Form College in Lancashire, UK son or daughter will enter Middle School which is home to Years 7 and 8 and is housed in a stand alone building at the front of the campus. Each year group has its own area of Middle School and across these three year groups, your child will be placed into one of three co-educational Houses: As a member of a House they will compete against pupils from the other Houses in a range of competitions including sports, chess, panel quizes and the annual house singing competition amongst others.

Senior School:
Core subjects include English, mathematics, geography, history, science and art.  At Year 9, your son or daughter will move into Senior School where they will mix with pupils from Year 10, 11, 12 and 13 and some of these children will be from countries all over the world. Rossall Senior School is the most culturally diverse school in Lancashire and provides pupils with a unique opportunity to develop their world view.

They will continue to attend co-educational academic classes and extra-curricular activities but they will receive pastoral care and support from within their single sex Houses within The Square. Each of the Senior School houses is run by a Houseparent who is supported by a set of House Tutors.

There are 6 Senior School Houses at Rossall. Every effort is maintained to create suitable pupil balance within them: this means a boarding house may well contain a few day pupils in certain year groups.

English Language Support
:
We provide extra English language support for all our overseas pupils who require it. This tends to be A-Level students rather than IB students who must study English as part of their programme. Language support for A-Level comes in two forms. Firstly, the students are given grammar and 'Use of English' lessons which eventually leads to pupils sitting the IELTS examinations which they need to gain entry to university. Second, conversational English lessons are given to improve overall confidence in oral communication.

Weekend Activities:
In addition to the weekly extra curriculum activities, Saturday clubs and sports fixtures, Rossall runs a comprehensive list of weekend outings throughout the year.

Priority is given to boarders but day pupils are also able to participate in weekend activities. This develops considerably the sense of community throughout the school and not just in the boarding community.
