Education Programmes for Boys & Girls

Co-educational Pre-Prep School (ages 3-6)
In the pre-prep school, the nursery class finishes at mid-day and afternoon lessons finish at 3.30 pm. The curriculum is designed to include the requirements of the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage), with an emphasis on the development of social skills and the boosting of each child's confidence.

We believe that a thorough grounding in numeracy and literacy lays the foundation of a successful and confident school career. Our pre-prep school aims to provide children with a happy start to school life, the opportunity to play and work together in a happy and ordered atmosphere, and to foster good manners, kindness, and consideration for others according to the aims of the EYFS at the nursery stage.

Single-Sex Prep Schools

Both schools offer a very wide curriculum, with all students learning Mathematics, Science, English, French Technology, Geography, History, and Scripture from the outset. Both boys and girls are introduced to Latin in Year 4 and German thereafter.

Each school has a well-equipped ICT suite and computing is taught as a subject in its own right to all girls and boys, as well as being used as an aid to learning in other subjects. There is a generous allocation in every student's timetable for Art, Music, Drama and Physical Education.

Greek is taught to boys and girls sitting for scholarships. In addition, once the scholarship exams are at an end, Russian is studied as an additional subject along with extended curriculum topics.

Considerable advantage is taken of field trips and outings both locally and further field.

Common Entrance Exam Preparation
- Brockhurst prepares boys for Common Entrance and Scholarship exams at the age of 13 to leading senior independent schools.
- Marlston House prepares girls are prepared for entry to leading public schools at either 11+ or 13+ through the Common Entrance Examination and Scholarship papers.
