Boarding aims to help pupils gain independence, self-reliance and leadership skills and the boarding community provides a friendly, caring environment based on family values. Live-in House staff, supported by tutors and matrons, are committed to knowing each pupil and ensuring pastoral care as well as academic monitoring. They also make sure boarders have fun through organised activities ranging from cinema to bowling and shopping trips.

The Senior boys (13 - 18 years) live in two houses, Willows and Lights; the Lower School boys (10 - 13 years) enjoy the space of Darks House. Lower School girls live in the Avenue and Senior girls in Beech House. Each House has a close-knit sense of family and community, and joins in interhouse events - working together to raise money for charity, performing boarders’ plays, celebrating Chinese New Year.

Focus on Academics:

- Encouraging Academic Excellence
We have a reputation for encouraging academic excellence through teachers who are passionate about their subjects. Class sizes are kept to a maximum of 24: small enough for one-to-one support and large enough for the cut and thrust of lively debate. We practise the best of traditional methods whilst seeking to innovate and adapt to changing times and the individual learning needs of our pupils.

- Develop Individual Talents
From years 7-9, the curriculum is notable for its breadth. We want our boys and girls to discover and develop individual talents in order to make appropriate choices for GCSE. In addition to GCSEs, students take the International GCSE study in Mathematics and Sciences, recognised as a rigorous and effective preparation for A level.

- Impressive Exam Results
Our sixth formers take AS and A levels with many choosing to undertake the Extended Project, highly valued by universities. Our impressive exam results pay testimony to our approach.
