LOLART art school offers a variety of professional art classes and camp activities for children, teens and adults of every skill level. We have schools conveniently located in Richmond Hill, Markham, Scarborough and North York in the Greater Toronto Area, Ontario. Our art classes are on-going so you may register at any time for a semester or school year. Classes are in small sizes and taught by highly qualified teachers with a wide range of experience and differentiated instructional and assessment strategies. Summer & March break camps are available.

Art classes in the Toronto area for children, teenagers & adults:

- Professional Art Advanced - for adults of all levels & teens ages 14+:
Whether you are rediscovering the joy of playfulness or taking your skills to a higher level, you will find an aesthetic value in this course. Prearranged and spontaneous classroom demos will cover critical concepts in a wide variety of subject matter and various artistic techniques. An encouraging instructor will supportively, but critically, provide the best expert guidance and assistance to meet individual needs of all-level learners, while making the process enjoyable. This allows you to pursue your own projects with your choices of medium and to work at your own pace.

The elements of making successful artworks will be assessed, and brief investigations in the history of traditional and contemporary art will allow you to make connections to your everyday artistic life. This course will also help you to build and nurture trust, spontaneity, intuition, clarity and confidence. Whether you draw or paint abstractly, realistically, or somewhere in-between, you will be shown how to put theories into practice to add a personal, stronger impact to your work.

- Professional Art Foundation - for adults, teens & kids ages 10+:
Get expert assistance to master rich techniques or excel in particular subject matter (cartooning, mythological creatures, animals, floral, landscape, still life, portraits, figures, objects, architecture etc.) while you are working in a relaxed classroom environment. You may work in one or all media. Students learn by demonstration and critical discussions on composition, light and tone, and the elements that help make an art piece an award-winner. 

Good observation habits will be demonstrated and direct or indirect mentoring will also be offered. Your artworks will be developed into your personal view of how you can best express it in your terms. Students also benefit from individual attention and group sharing. Creativity, fun individuality and personal expression will also be appreciated.

- Pre-professional Art Intermediate - for kids ages 7-9 / Pre-professional Art Advanced - for kids ages 9-11
Experimentation with shapes, lines, light, shadow and color theory will bring your drawings to an exciting new level. By focusing on the concepts of balance, expression and meaning in your artworks, you will be gaining control over
your compositions. The uniqueness of your own creative art works will develop as a result of your progressive knowledge of cartooning, which will allow you to make your stories or ideas come alive. 3-D observation will help you to appreciate the detail and beauty of the world around you. Instructors will provide demonstrations and give personal and individual assistance that will be certain to inspire you.

- Pre-professional Art Foundation - for kids ages 4-5 and 6-7:
The elevated level of interaction in this course helps children to experiment with new techniques and materials like markers, crayons and watercolor paints. In a highly considerate and playful atmosphere, children are engaged in a variety of drawing and painting themes while instructors cultivate each child's innate sense of creative energy.

Group sharing and discussions are aimed to develop children's artistic thoughts and confidence. Our instructors will offer guided and inspiring demonstrations in numerous subject matters to allow children to explore their imagination and interpret it with line, shape, form and pattern.

Portfolio Preparation Classes:

- Visual Arts, Grade 12, University/College Preparation (1.0 Credit):
This course focuses on enabling students to refine their use of the creative process when creating and presenting two- and three-dimensional art works using a variety of traditional and emerging media and technologies. The studio program enables students to explore a range of materials, processes, and techniques that can be applied in their own art production. Students will use the critical analysis process to explore connections between art and society and to deconstruct art works. They will also make connections between various works of art in personal, contemporary, historical, and cultural contexts.

- Grade 11 Visual Arts University / College (110 hours / 1.0 credit):
In this course, students will be able to further develop their knowledge and skills in visual arts. They will use the creative process to explore a wide range of themes through studio activities that include painting and drawing, as well as the creation of mixed media, collage, and photography. Students will examine historical and cultural contexts of Western art and art from various world cultures to support their study of specific media. They will also use the critical analysis process when evaluating their own work and the work of others.
