FAQs:

What is Music & Colors?
It is a piano lessons program that we created since 1985 to teach student how to play the piano and understand musical concepts. The beginner student learns the music language by writing over the musical elements with colors. We believe that learning comes from repetition and doing, when the student colors over a music note, it is like writing a music note, and the student learns to makes an association of the note with the piano key and the music staff.

We call it “Mental Exercise”. We have created over the years a vast number of workbook material that it is fun for the student to color and learn. The students enjoy their piano lessons playing new songs on every lesson while we create a well rounded music education program including Music Theory, Rhythm, Technique, Sight Reading, and Ear Training.

When we work with student that have some experience and had taken piano lessons before, the use of color it is not necessary. The use of colors is just a tool to help the student understand and make a faster association of musical elements. All the student reach a point to where they challenge themselves and start reading music without using colors.

How do the headphones work?

During group lessons it is important that each student works on his or her own music, at their own pace on their own piano. The teacher helps each one of the students individually, teacher knows if the student is playing the right keys with the correct rhythm, simply by observation.

Beginner students are playing music from a program that we created: Music & Colors. The digital pianos that we use in class have a secondary input for headphones and when it is necessary the teacher plugs in and listens at the same time as the student.
