Lower School Curriculum;

Academic basics are the footing upon which an education is built, and it is our primary focus inPhoto of Private Elementary / Middle School in Campbell CA the Lower School. Rather than getting caught up in the "latest and greatest" trend for teaching the basics, we have held on to time-tested methods.

No "whole language" or "whole math"––reading and math are not guessing games. The Heron Basics™ Programs brings students at Delphi to a high level of competence in the fundamentals of reading and math, as well as writing and spelling.

Beyond the focus on competence in basics, Delphi introduces students to a wide variety of academic subjects.

Designed with an integrated approach, the Lower School curriculum includes courses in geography, history, science, music, art, poetry, foreign language (Spanish), and even communication skills.

In addition, our teaching methods engage students in creative activities which encourage the exploration of their surroundings and help them relate what they learn to real life.

Elementary School Curriculum:
The Elementary School academic program focuses on four vital areas: (1) the basics of reading, writing and mathematics; (2) development of study skills; (3) practical application; and (4) integration with a broad curriculum.

Academic basics are the footing upon which an education is built, and it continues to be a primary focus in the Elementary School. Reading in volume and reading a variety of books, all with good comprehension, are the primaImage of Private Elementary / Middle School in Campbell CAry elements of the reading program.

Proficiency at instant response computational skills is developed in mathematics while new math concepts are introduced seminar-style. Writing focuses on mastering penmanship, writing discipline and volume writing, grammar and spelling skills.

Our Elementary School curriculum focuses on the basics, while immersing students in the arts, physical and social sciences, foreign language and plenty of practical application to the real world.

At this level, students are introduced to computers as a way to enhance their research skills and to learn some basic programs. In addition to traditional academics, courses covering such life skills as communication, nutrition, manners and morals are also offered to Elementary School students.

Middle School Curriculum:
The focus of the academic program for Middle School students is to finish up the Heron Basics Program in reading, writing and mathematics and then move on to the next level of skill in these areas; study skills should be finely honed; practical application can lead to apprenticeships both off and on campus; the broad curriculum of science, foreign language, history, life skills, art and music, and geography is further rounded.

The Middle School student finishes the Heron Basics Program and then moves up to the next level in each of those basic areas. In reading, literature seminars have the student reading some of the classics, including works by DickePhotos of Delphi Academy of Campbellns, Twain, Shakespeare and Homer.

In writing, students are integrating their reading material with analytical skills in writing research papers, reports and essays.

By the end of Form 6, students will have taken the equivalent of a year of algebra and have addressed the next level of basic geometry. Instant response calculation skills are maintained at a high level.

Middle School students participate in current events seminars which train them in both research and presentation skills. In Life Skills, students will take courses in nutrition, manners, ethics, logic and economics.
