Glenoaks Elementary School & Wooden Shoe Preschool, San Fernando Valley:
Glenoaks Elementary School & Wooden Shoe is part of the United Methodist Church of San Fernando and provides a private Christian education for grades Pre K-6. We offer enrichment classes as part of our school curriculum, including Spanish, Art, Music and PE. In addition, we offer preschool for ages 2.5-5 yrs. old. Our tuition is very affordable: K - $3,000 yr. and 1-6: $4,000 yr. Located in San Fernando in north-west Los Angeles County, CA, we teach children from San Fernando, Kagel Canyon, Granada Hills, Panorama City, Sunland, Sun Valley and surrounding San Fernando Valley communities.

Education Programs:
Glenoaks is made up of two divisions: Wooden Shoe Preschool & Glenoaks Elementary School offering Kindergarten to 6th grade programs.

Preschool Programs (2 years old - Pre-K):
We strive to create an environment that helps each child become aware that they are loved and are of infinite worth. We acknowledge the individual rate and pattern of growth in each child; we have designed our development curriculum to compliment the predictable stages of early childhood. Children will visit a variety of meaningful themes through art, literature and creative play. We believe that play is the work of the young child. Our school creates an environment which allows children to grow mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Kindergarten Through Sixth Grade Programs:
Beginning in Kindergarten through sixth grade, the adopted curriculum at Glenoaks Elementary follows the California state standards. Instruction includes, but is not limited to the following areas:

Awards/Honor Roll:

Semester awards are established to honor students throughout the school year in academic performance, attendance, citizenship. The purpose of the award presentation is to help build self esteem in our students along with promoting good public relations, providing an attainable goal that will enhance the motivation and pride in school and self.

Standardized Testing:
The Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) is administered each spring to students in grade 2 through 6. Tests become part of the students' academic profile used to assess levels of achievement, ability, and needs. Glenoaks Elementary School utilizes the scores to evaluate curriculum and plan instructional priorities.

Homework Club:
Homework Club is available every Monday. Our Glenoaks Elementary School teachers rotate to spend 45 minutes afterschool with students helping them with whatever help they need on their homework.

Daycare & After School Club:
School starts at 8:25 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m. Daycare is available from 7:00 a.m. and an After School Club is in session from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Chapel:
As a Christian school, We at Glenoaks Schools believe in setting aside time out of the week to worship the Lord. Once a week, our students go to the Chapel to worship God, sing praises, learn about the Bible, enjoy fun skits and plays, and much more! Through Chapel, our students will be able to grow in their faith in God and become stronger and more knowledgeable about Christianity.

We are open Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm with a special early bird program that opens as early as 7:00 am. There are full time, part time, and half-day programs available. Through developmentally appropriate practice, our program provides for a variety of experiences, levels of difficulty, and pacing.

At Woodbury Preschool Village, our philosophy is based on the principal that learning should be the result of the actual experience that play is a significant mode of learning, and above all, that school should be a place of joy.
