Club Yachting:
Club Yachting, located in Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain, is a Royal Yachting Association (RYA) school offering Sailing, Motor Boat, Powerboat and Theory courses. At Club Yachting we are all passionate about sailing and motor cruising, and our mission is to pass this passion onto our customers.
RYA Sailing Courses:
Start Yachting:
On this two day course you will do a quick safety briefing with your Instructor before going sailing. During the two days you will get the chance to anchor for lunch and go swimming - as well as experiencing steering a yacht, sail handling, and rope work.
Competent Crew:
RYA Competent Crew courses are for sail yachts, and in tidal or non-tidal waters. Due to our location all our courses are tidal, and your certificate will be endorsed accordingly. This is very much a hands-on course with little time to teach navigation or other theoretical subjects. It introduces complete beginners to cruising and teaches personal safety, seamanship and helmsmanship to the level required to be a useful member of the crew of a cruising yacht. You will be spending the complete week on board the yacht visiting the beautiful areas of the Canaries away from the beaten track.
Watch Leader:
RYA Watch Leader courses can be taken in either sail or motor yachts, and in tidal or non-tidal waters. Due to our location all our courses are tidal, and your certificate will be endorsed accordingly. This is very much a hands-on course with little time to teach navigation or other theoretical subjects. It is therefore recommended that you take the RYA Day Skipper Theory course prior to your practical course so you can put those skills into practice on the water. If you wish you can join us for a two week Combined course which covers both the theoretical of Day Skipper and practical aspects of the Watch Leader course.
Day Skipper (Tidal):
RYA Day Skipper courses can be taken in either sail or motor yachts, and in tidal or non-tidal waters. Due to our location all our courses are tidal, and your certificate will be endorsed accordingly. This is very much a hands-on course with little time to teach navigation or other theoretical subjects. It is therefore recommended that you take the RYA Day Skipper Theory course prior to your practical course so you can put those skills into practice on the water. If you wish you can join us for a two week Combined course which covers both the theoretical and practical aspects of the Day Skipper course. If you need a Day Skipper certificate in order to work on board a commercial craft subject the MCA's codes of practice. You can then work on commercial vessels up to 24m in length, operating in category 5 and 6 waters - that is up to 20 miles from a nominated departure point in fine weather and daylight. You will be spending the complete week on board the yacht visiting the beautiful areas of the Canaries away from the beaten track.
Coastal Skipper Practical:
RYA Coastal Skipper courses can be taken in either sail or motor yachts, and in tidal or non-tidal waters. Due to our location all our courses are tidal, and your certificate will be endorsed accordingly. There are two types of Coastal Skipper certificate:
- A Course Completion certificate awarded by a training centre on successful completion of a five-day training course (Coastal Skipper Practical).
- A Certificate of Competence awarded by the RYA/MCA on successful completion of an exam (Yachtmaster Coastal MCA).
Yachtmaster Ocean Passage:
This course is in two parts and either (or both) may be taken. The theory element includes: Astro-navigation, ocean meteorology and ocean passage planning. The practical element includes a 600 mile passage that complies with the requirements of the MCA Yachtmaster Ocean exam.
Yachtmaster Coastal (MCA) Prep & Exam:
YA Yachtmaster Coastal MCA exams can be taken in either sail or motor yachts, and in tidal or non-tidal waters. Due to our location all our courses are tidal. There are two types of Coastal Skipper certificate:
- A course completion certificate awarded by a training centre on successful completion of a five-day training course (Coastal Skipper Practical)
- A Certificate of Competence awarded by the RYA/MCA on successful completion of an exam (Yachtmaster Coastal MCA).
Yachtmaster (MCA) Prep & Exam:
RYA Yachtmaster Offshore MCA exams can be taken in either sail or motor yachts. The Yachtmaster Offshore MCA preparation is very much hands-on with little time to teach navigation or other theoretical subjects. It is therefore recommended that you take the RYA Coastal Skipper / Yachtmaster Theory course prior to your practical course so you can put those skills into practice on the water. This is very much a hands-on course - polishing existing skills to enable you to handle a yacht to the level required for Yachtmaster Offshore MCA. You will be spending the complete week on board the yacht.

We are a PADI dive centre and diving school based in Puerto Rico, Gran Canaria. We are a family run divecentre with our feet in the sea, our private terrace with direct access to the sea is a wonderful place to take your first underwater breaths, and a great place for non divers to relax too. We offer diving for all levels of experience. Beginners can take your first underwater breaths or get qualified to dive with the PADI open water course. For the experienced divers we offer daily dive trips in the islands clear, rich waters where you can see everything from sea-horses to manta rays.
Spanish Sailing is located 2kms from the Catalan fishing town of l'Ametlla de Mar, 150 kms down the coast from Barcelona, Spain. Our school is set on 5 acres surrounded by olive farms and mountains. Our school is a fully residential Royal Yachting Association (RYA) approved shore based training centre. We teach all of the RYA theory courses in one-to-one situations and in a beautiful environment. In addition to the normal classroom facilities, our school is fully equipped with a variety of simulators and even a fully working electronic 'bridge'. The number of participants on any course is intentionally kept low to allow near one-to-one attention and the structure of the training is flexible to allow individual requirements to be addressed. It is usual to start the course by correspondence ahead of the visit, to make best use of the time at the centre where the concentration is on those topics usually found the most difficult to grasp and where individual attention is most needed.
Menorca Cruising School in Menorca, Balearic Islands, Spain was the first RYA sailing school to operate in the Mediterranean. We are based in the beautiful and historic Mahon harbour, only 5 minutes from the airport. The harbour is 3.5 km in length and is the perfect location for a sailing school, offering sheltered sailing all year round. We specialize in Competent Crew and Day Skipper courses for individuals, families and mixed ability groups. We also offer refresher courses and advanced training form more experienced sailors.Mahon Harbour is the perfect base for non-tidal sailing training, offering good weather and excellent sailing for both beginners and experienced sailors. We can then set out to explore more than 40 sheltered coves around the island's 80 miles circumference. We are very used to mixed ability teaching and partners with differing abilities can take different courses on the same yacht.
