The Greater Columbus Swim School:
The Greater Columbus Swim School is the Instructional Program of the Greater Columbus Swim Team of Ohio (GCSTO). The Greater Columbus Swim School offers year-round private, semi-private and group lessons to adults and children in Columbus and all over central Ohio. We teach basic in-water survival techniques as well as advanced competitive swimming skills to our participants. All of our instructors are life guard, CPR & First Aid certified and must complete our own Instructor’s Training Course (ITC) to be eligible to teach.

Adult Beginner 1:
Face under, bobbing, deep water jump, unassisted front & back floats, front & back push-offs with and without kicks, front & back kicking with boards (25yds), introduction to treading water, and freestyle & backstroke swimming (5-7yds)

Adult Beginner 2:
 Freestyle swimming with rhythmic breathing (25yds), backstroke swimming (25yds), diving in, introductory backstroke starts, Introductory breaststroke kicking, butterfly kicking on board (25yds), treading water (60sec), and front & back sculling (15yds/25yds, respectively).


Golden Bear Level (School-age Classes ):
- note that all school-age classes will involve 5-10 minutes of core strength development dry land work

School-age Intermediate 1:
Competitive front & back push-offs with 6yds/8yds, respectively underwater fly kick, freestyle and backstroke refinement freestyle and backstroke finishes, freestyle and backstroke flip turns, breaststroke and butterfly kick refinement (50yds), breaststroke swimming (25yds), and butterfly pull introduction.

School-age Intermediate 2:
Competitive front & back push-offs with 8yds/10yds, respectively underwater fly kick, butterfly swimming (25yds),
breaststroke swimming (50yds), breaststroke and butterfly turns, breaststroke and butterfly finishes, breaststroke pull-outs, butterfly kicking on their back, freestyle and backstroke review (all aspects), and racing dives.

School-age Advanced:
Competitive front & back push-offs with 10yds /12yds, respectively underwater fly kick, butterfly, breaststroke, freestyle and backstroke total aspect review & swimming refinement (50yds), 100yd individual medley swims, individual medley turns, and relay starts.

Silver Bear Level:

School-age Beginner 1:
Face under, bobbing, deep water jump, unassisted front & back floats, front & back push-offs with and without kicks, front & back kicking with boards (25yds), introduction to treading water, and freestyle & backstroke swimming (5-7yds).

School-age Beginner 2:
 Freestyle swimming with rhythmic breathing (25yds), backstroke swimming (25yds), diving in, introductory backstroke starts, Introductory breaststroke kicking, butterfly kicking on board (25yds), treading water (60sec), and front & back sculling (15yds/25yds, respectively)

School-age Beginner 3:
Freestyle and backstroke swimming refinement (50yds), front spring dives, backstroke racing starts, butterfly and breaststroke kicking (25yds), breaststroke pull introduction and advanced forward sculling (25yds).

Bronze Bear Level:

Parent-Tot:
Basic water adjustment skills (splashing & kicking on side of pool), face under, blowing bubbles, bobbing introduction, jumping in, assisted front & back floats, assisted front and back kicking skills & instructor familiarization.

Pre-school 1:
Basic water adjustment skills (splashing & kicking on side of pool), face under, blowing bubbles, bobbing introduction, jumping in, assisted front & back floats, assisted front and back kicking skills.

Pre-school 2:
Bobbing, unassisted front & back floats (& rolling over), jumping into deep water, unassisted front and back kicking, introduction and front & back push-offs & front crawl stroke

Pre-school 3:
Front & back push-offs with kicks (3-5yds), unassisted deep water jumping, introduction to diving, introduction to treading water, introduction into freestyle & backstroke (5-7yds), introduction to freestyle rhythmic breathing

Pre-School 4:
Freestyle swimming with rhythmic breathing (10yds), backstroke swimming (10yds), diving in, backstroke starts, treading water (30sec), butterfly kicking on board (10yds) and front & back sculling

Teen Swim Fit Programming:
We offer a teen fitness program for area youth who wish to work on their fitness levels and who wish to use aquatic training for fitness training purposes. This program combines several aspects of GCSTO’s elite dry land training program to help develop core strength, coordination and endurance in participants. These participants will also have in-water stroke and cardio vascular development sessions that compliment the exercises that they will be performing in the dry land portion of their practice session.

GPAC Swim School, Greater Philadelphia & South Jersey
Courses / Programs
Established in 2009, The Greater Philadelphia Aquatic Club (GPAC) Swim School provides group swim classes and private lessons to young children (ages 4+) from the Greater Philadelphia and South Jersey area. Our swim classes are held at the Gloucester County Institute of Technology in Sewell, NJ. Our aim is to help young children of all swimming abilities to become more familiar around water and more proficient with their swimming skills.

Our swim lessons are offered in a group format and we keep our class sizes small with no more than four swimmers per instructor. We also offer private, 1-on-1, lessons. Classes at each level will also include safety lessons to go along with the swimming instruction. The safety of your child is paramount to us. This is why all of our instructors are required to be certified in lifesaving and CPR/First Aid.
- Group swim classes for kids (ages 4+) at beginners, intermediate & advanced levels. All group classes are offered in 6 week sessions and classes are run once per week for the duration of the session. Each lesson will last 25 minutes.

Turning Winds Academic Institute (TWAI)

Located in northwestern Montana, Turning Winds Academic Institute (TWAI) is an accredited, family-run, therapeutic boarding school for troubled teens (boys and girls) ages 13-18 from Ohio and across the United States.

In our beautiful, peaceful, and safe location, we combine the benefits of a therapeutic boarding school, a wilderness program, and a residential treatment center (RTC).

TWAI has been serving struggling teens and their families since 2002, with an exceptional degree of success.

IU Natatorium, Indianapolis

The IU (Indiana University) Natatorium is the world famous swimming/diving facility in Indianapolis. We offer swimming lessons and training for adult and child swimmers of all ages and levels. In the main pool water temperature is kept at 79 degrees and there are six underwater windows for television and coaching analysis.

The IU Natatorium is located on the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) campus just west of downtown Indianapolis, near the Indianapolis Zoo, Downtown Canal Walk, and White River State Park.
