Physique Swim School has six excellent locations in Manhattan, one in Queens, NYC, and two in New Jersey. Our programs are designed for swimmers to roll over from one level to another as they develop their swimming technique. This allows students to progress smoothly into skilled swimmers.

Summer Swim Camp:

Campers plunge into Physique’s daily instructional swim program (morning), as they learn basic swim techniques and safety skills under the supervision and guidance of our Red Cross certified lifeguards and instructors. This year we will start our swim team training, as well as a stroke development lessons at camp.

Beginner 1 Water Exploration:

Students are beginning to get comfortable in the water and ready to learn how to submerge and to exhale in the water. Float prone and supine without floats. Push and glide from the wall. Kicking frontcrawl and backcrawl and holding a float.

Beginner 2 Primary Skills:
Swimmer should be able to propel on front with out aid 4 – 6 feet. Continue to learn: floating and kicking on front and back. Submerge with eyes open. Begin to develop rhythmic breathing. Combined stroke on front and back (arms and legs coordination. Push off wall, glide, kick and exhale 4 – 7 yards. Jumps and sitting dives.

Advanced 1 Stroke Readiness:
Students have passed beginner level and can swim unsupported. Will learn: arm strokes, leg kicks and breathing coordination. Rotation, treading water, floating, submerging and changing directions. Fundamentals of backstroke and freestyle with rotary breathing. Rudiments of breastroke and butterfly. Sitting and standing dives.

Advanced 2 Stroke Development:
Students move confidently in deep water, perform sculling, continue to improve stroke technique, refine details of breathing and arms actions of front crawl and backstroke. Learn kicks and arms coordination in breastroke and butterfly. Begin to develop starts and turns.

Swim Team Prep - Stroke Development/Skill Proficiency:
Students can demonstrate all of the four strokes. The course focuses in refining technique and developing efficiency through water. Hydrodynamics are emphasized. Starts and turns are improved. The level develops the swimmer’s technique in order to move on to endurance training.

Swim Team Prep II Competitive Swimming:
STPII is for competitive swimmers who are already on a swim team, looking to join all year around/school swim teams or who want to build a foundation for swimming as a fitness lifetime skill. Swim Team Prep II conditions the swimmer by training twice a week for 1 hour each time. The focus of STPII is to perfect technique in the water, conditioning and training. The swimmer will build up fundamentals in development of speed ability through timed work out sets. Hydrodynamics, starts and turns are heavily emphasized through drills and repetition sets.

Master Class Swimming:
Physique is proud to offer this new class in the heart of the Financial District. The swimmer will train, develop stroke efficiency, and endurance. The class is offered twice a week in a 25-meter Olympic Size swimming pool at Claremont Preparatory School. It does not matter what level you are from beginner to intermediate, the experts at Physique Swim School will build up your personal goals through structured works out sets.


Swimming Classes for Adults:

Me & My Shadow - Parent & Toddler Swimming Lessons:
Both the parent and child (under 3 years old) participate in class together. The instructor directs the parents on how to hold their own child in the water and getting them adjusted with the aquatic environment. The class is taught through sing along songs. It is suggested that parents may want to purchase a wet suit in case the child is cold in the water.

Adult Beginners:
No previous swimming experience is necessary. Class focuses on breath control, balance & body position. Class will develop all strokes from the very beginning with an end goal of lap swimming (fitness swimming).

Swim Yoga Workshop Clinic:
The half day clinic includes one 60 minute yoga session and one 90 minute swimming session. The focus of the Swim Yoga Clinic is to raise awareness of balance and breath control to aid stroke development. By using basic yoga principals outside of the water, swimmers will learn a variety of drills that focus on and establish key elements of balance and breath control, which is the solid foundation that enhances all strokes at any level.

Swim Drills:

Intermediate/Advanced Swimmers
Swimmers should be able to swim at least 100 yards. Class focuses on cardiovascular endurance for swimming and stroke refinement. Perfect for triathletes and fitness swimmers.

Hills Learning

Hills Learning is a language school that provides high-quality Mandarin Chinese classes to adults, teens and children all year-round. This summer, we are teaming up with Chess Educators to provide a unique summer camp experience for boys and girls (ages 5-12) - combine Mandarin Chinese immersion instruction with an interactive Chess program. The program takes place at Léman Manhattan Prep School, in the Financial District of NYC (close to Wall Street).

Kids will participate in fun, engaging activities, and they start off the day with a morning wakeup physical activity. In the afternoon, they get engaged in playing Chess and learning fun and effective strategies. All students must sign up for 2 weeks minimum. They can also take the camp for 4 weeks and receive a discount.

Our Chinese language instruction is fun and effective. We follow a textbook designed specifically for children learning Chinese. All language skills are developed, from writing and reading, to speaking and listening. Through interactive games and activities, the students learn the basics of this incredible language.

The chess camp provides an interactive and hands-on approach for kids to learn chess. Chess camp activities include chess instruction and lessons, a chess lab which includes worksheets, problem solving, and more tactics. Kids will also participate in class tournament games with notation and clocks making the camp an exciting and rewarding experience.
- Summer program for elementary school kids (ages 5-12) that combines Mandarin Chinese classes with an interactive Chess program.

All students must sign up for 2 weeks minimum. They can also take the camp for 4 weeks and receive a discount.

Based in Setauket, NY, urSwim is New York's only swim school that comes to you, serving all of Long Island and Manhattan. We offer private, semi-private and group lessons year-round in the convenience of our clients pools. Additionally, we provide water aerobics and lifeguarding services for both residential and corporate events.

We are committed to reaching every pool from Manhattan to Montauk. urSwim instructors will teach at any pool: yours, grandma’s, a friendly neighbor’s, a community pool, etc. Our office will note your desired day(s) / times and do our absolute best to accommodate the lesson time you desire.

Our instructors are all American Red Cross certified Lifeguards with at least three years of experience. They are also CPR and First Aid certified. Besides being highly motivated to get soon-to-be swimmers swimming, they also happen to be really cool.
