- A cosmetologist/hairstylist license allows an individual to practice all phases of cosmetology.


During the first 600 hours students are defined as an underclassmen (Freshman and Juniors). During this interval your work will consist of lectures, demonstrations, practicing on mannequins and written/practical examinations. After completion of 600 hours, passing of both the practical and written midterm, recommendation of your instructor and a doctor's certification, you will advance to the Senior floor. The remaining 600 hours will consist of class projects, additional lectures, salon management and working in the Senior Clinic. In the Senior Clinic patrons pay a reduced fee for services performed by students. As a senior student you will perform services on clients building your self-esteem and knowledge.

Course of Aesthetics / Jersey State Board of Cosmetology and Hairstyling:

- An aesthetics license allows an individual to practice all phases of aesthetics including facials, body procedures and make-up artistry.


The Aesthetics Course consists of 600 hours as prescribed by the New Jersey State Board of Cosmetology and Hairstyling. During the first 300 hours students are defined as an underclassman (Freshman). During this interval your work will consist of lectures, demonstrations, practicing on mannequins and written and practical examinations. After completion of 300 hours, passing of both the practical and written midterm, recommendation of your instructor and a doctor's certification, you will advance to the Senior floor. Teaching Methodology / New Jersey State Board of Cosmetology and Hairstyling:

- The educational objective of the Student Teaching curriculum is to provide the student with sufficient training to pass the State Board Exam.

The Student Teaching Course consists of 500 clock hours as prescribed by the New Jersey State Board of Cosmetology and Hairstyling. Requirements of the Student Teacher Course are as follows:

1. you must be at least 18 years old
2. be the recipient of a current NJ State Cosmetology license
3. have a High School Diploma or GED
4. have a minimum of 6 months salon experience
5. complete 30 clock hours in "Methods of Teaching"

Observation, practice teaching, instruction in lesson planning and teaching methodology are requirements of completion for the Student Teaching Course.
