School History:

Photo of Preschool / Child Care in Nashua, NHThe White Wing School was organized early in 1959 during the construction of the Educational Building of the Unitarian Church. Realizing the need for more kindergarten facilities in Nashua, several mothers proposed a self-supporting nursery and kindergarten. The Executive Committee of the church approved the proposed Purpose and By-Laws and authorized the use of the new building. They also created a division of the church “to operate and maintain a nonsectarian Kindergarten-Nursery School” in the Church School Building. This division of the church is called the White Wing School Board. White Wing School is licensed and operates within the requirements of the State of New Hampshire Child Care Licensing Unit.

Accreditation:
White Wing School is nationally accredited by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs, a branch of the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

Philosophy:
We believe that the best way to prepare children for elementary school is to provide a “hands-on” approach of discovery and experimentation. This type of activity promotes a keen interest in learning and lays the foundation for more abstract learning in later years.

White Wing addresses the needs of the whole child. Because activities are openended and success-oriented, they facilitate growth for every ability level and foster a positive self-image. Activities are carefully selected to promote social, emotional, physical, creative and intellectual growth. White Wing appreciates that readiness for any given task comes at its own time for each child. We respect the individuality of each child by including in our curriculum a range of activities that are developmentally appropriate for each age group.
