La Casa en el Árbol is a cultural and language institute located in the heart of San Cristóbal de las Casas in Chiapas, southern México. We offer a range of Spanish classes specifically tailored for the pace of each student in a unique cultural learning environment. We understand that each student has special needs and interests; one of our strongest points is our flexibility to personalize our Spanish program to tailor-fit each student according to these needs.

One-on-One Intensive Spanish
The minimum time recommendation is 4 hours a day if you seriously want to improve your Spanish. You may take a full morning session or split your classes into morning and afternoon blocks.

Group courses start every Monday, only! :) Thus we maintain the pace of the group during the week. If there is no group matching your Spanish level at your arrival, you will be given one-on-one classes.

Culture Immersion Program
Our Spanish immersion program maximizes the benefits of group work and individual instruction. You may enjoy classes in the patio or go around town in some popular places.
The program offers a variety of visits to special museums and typical villages. You will appreciate interacting with the locals and discover a fascinating culture which is difficult to feel with a normal tour operator.
You will take part in Mexican/Chiapaneca cooking activities and appreciate local flavours. You may go hiking or biking to see the old ruins of Moxviquil or the Flora of the Huitepec reserve.
You will enjoy films and/or conferences to gain an understanding of cultural diversity within Chiapas and the histories and ways of life of various groups.
Medical Spanish course
Our Medi
cal Spanish program is designed to improve our student communication skills with Spanish-speaking patients in order to deal with routine and emergency situations of the real medicine world.
We provide our students basic medical Spanish vocabulary and terms but we do not cover highly specialized medical terminology.
Practice your medical Spanish in real world situations
- We can arrange conversations with doctors/students in medicine.
- You may volunteer in a free health center.
