Co-ed Boarding Program for Grade 6-12 Students with Learning Disabilities:
The Brehm Academic Curriculum is designed and implemented in accordance with the Brehm Vision and Mission.

Brehm's curricula has been approved by the Illinois State Board of Education, North Central Association, and the Independent Schools Association of the Central States.

Brehm Core Programs include:
- English; Mathematics; Social Science; Science; Physical Education/Health; Fine Arts; Foreign Languages; Computers; Learning Cognition; Transition Electives;

Speech and Language:

Brehm’s Speech-Language Department employs five full-time speech-language pathologists. Brehm SLPs evaluate speech, language, and related skills; establish contexts and frequencies for therapies based on individual needs; and develop, implement, and report progress on individual therapy plans.

SLPs communicate with Brehm staff, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis regarding the students’ progress and its impact on their academic, social, and personal issues. The Speech-Language Department provides evaluation and therapy services to address needs in the following areas:

- Speech Articulation/Intelligibility
- Auditory/Listening Skills
- Oral Language Skills
- Language-Based Literacy Skills
- Written Expression
- Pragmatic and Social Communication Skills
- Cognitive and Metacognitive Aspects of Communication

Cross-Curricular Competencies:

Five cross-curricular competencies are embedded within the Brehm Curriculum. Mastery of these interdisciplinary competencies is intended to promote successful performance in school, the workplace, and the community. Every class has been scoped and sequenced with Brehm Competencies, State Standards, and ACT skills:

Art and Multimedia:
Brehm understands that a creative outlet is crucial for its students, so students are encouraged to explore the arts with our talented instructors. Brehm students produce high-quality artwork that often wins awards at local and regional art shows.

Lake Forest Academy

Salem4youth Therapeutic Christian Boarding School
Courses / Programs
Based in Flanagan, Illinois, Salem4youth is a Christian Therapeutic Boarding School for troubled boys and young men in Grades 3-12.

We offer an educational program that is specifically structured to support the supervision and training of students that have special challenges.

These challenges can include emotional and behavioral problems, learning difficulties, lack of motivation and other difficulties that may be the result of self-harming or other detrimental behaviors, including drug and alcohol use. As a Christian Boarding School, our therapy is Biblical-based.

We combine our educational program with equine therapy. Using horses therapeutically and vocationally, boys receive riding instructions and are given the responsibility to care for the horses. The relationships developed with our horses help each young man develop self-esteem, control, and responsibility.
Christian Therapeutic Boarding School:

New Hope Wilderness Camp
Courses / Programs
New Hope Wilderness Camp, located in Ava (38 miles south east of Springfield), South Central Missouri, in the Midwestern United States, is a 21-day co-ed wilderness program, working with troubled teens (ages 11-20) who are experiencing conduct and behavior problems.

These include: Lack of Respect; Hostility Toward Loved Ones; Defiance Toward Authority; Truancy; Drugs; Violence; Depression and Unpredictable Behavior.

The individual treatment planning at New Hope is aimed at facilitating a change of heart, healing and strengthening family relationships, and inviting new beginnings. We have one competent staff member for every two young people. We utilize horses to do therapy with the young people, as well as daily counseling.

The ultimate goal of New Hope is to see the young people making positive choices in their lives, changing their heart attitudes positively, to facilitate a better relationship with their parents. We certainly believe Jesus Christ is the focal point for change, after one recognizes a heart need.
21-Day Co-ed Wilderness Program for Troubled Teens (Ages 11-20)

We provide a safe environment in which to:

- Discover and nurture strengths, interests and talents;
- Support effort toward change;
- Establish consistent and stable relationships;

- Enhance self-worth and empowerment;

Turning Winds Academic Institute (TWAI)

Located in northwestern Montana, Turning Winds Academic Institute (TWAI) is an accredited, family-run, therapeutic boarding school for troubled teens (boys and girls) ages 13-18.

We welcome students from Illinois, across the United States, and students from around the world (TWAI is authorized to issue 1-20's for international students).

In our beautiful, peaceful, and safe location, we combine the benefits of a therapeutic boarding school, a wilderness program, and a residential treatment center (RTC).

TWAI has been serving struggling teens and their families since 2002, with an exceptional degree of success.

We provide an extremely high standard of therapeutic treatment to our students, and offer help for the following presenting issues: poor academic performance, behavioral problems, addictions, low self-worth, spectrum disorders, ADD/ADHD, and attachment disorders among others.

With a passion for helping young people in crisis, our clinical, educational, and operations staff are among the best in the country.

We are a small program (40 students) which means that we are able to provide a truly unique and customized approach for every student.

Typically our on site student to staff ratio is 5:1. The average stay at our residential treatment center is 12 months.

TWAI graduates average a 3.5 GPA. It is common for a student to complete 1.5 years of course work in 1 year.

Located just to the west of Land O' Lakes, Wisconsin, Conserve School is a non-sectarian semester school for high school juniors that focuses on environmental education.

Semester school is a term used to describe a boarding school that complements a student’s secondary education by providing them with the opportunity to step out of their regular school for half an academic year and step into a uniquely different educational setting while continuing their required academic studies.

Conserve School's programs are aimed at students who feel a strong attachment to the natural world and who are motivated to conserve it.

New Creations Chapel is a multi-faceted Christian organization located in East Richmond, Indiana. Our primary focus is a boarding school for teens in transition ages 12-18. We assist teens transitioning from a general state of rebellion to young adulthood.

Our Christian Ministry and Boarding School is big enough to offer sports, television production, horsemanship and choir - yet small enough to minister to the individual.
