Doshisha University, Kyoto:
Established in 1875, Doshisha University is one of Japan's most prestigious private universities at the forefront of cutting-edge education in Japan. Doshisha Business School (DBS) opened in 2004, following a long tradition of successful Kyoto-based global corporations such as Omron, Kyocera, Shimadzu, and Nintendo. Our English-language Global MBA was inaugurated alongside the school’s Japanese MBA in 2009, and following five successful years was strengthened as a independent Global MBA (Global Business and Management Studies) program in 2014 with a bolstered dedicated faculty and expanded course offering.
Doshisha Business School (DBS) offers the following Master of Business Administration (MBA) program:
Global Business and Management Studies Program (Global MBA):The Doshisha Business School Global Business and Management Studies (Global MBA) is a two-year, full-time program that features an academically robust and innovative combination of core management courses and advanced elective courses.
The program is further enhanced through Global Intensive courses where high profile professors from leading overseas business schools offer courses premised on cutting edge research and long-time teaching experience. Quialified students may also have the oppurtunity to apply to spend an academic term abroad at one of our overseas partner universities or take Japanese MBA courses at DBS.
The curriculum is made up of four parts:
Core (16 credits or more)
Global Intensive (2 credits or more)
Global MBA Electives (16 credits or more)
Required Courses (8 credits)
Core:
The Core consists of 9 courses (2 credits each) that build a foundation of knowledge in the key areas of management which you are required to take at least 8 courses. The core courses are:

Business and Society in the Global Context
Responsible Leadership in the Global Context
Global Intensive:These courses are offered in compressed format (typically one-week or two-week) by top professors from leading overseas business schools. You are required to take at least one or more Global Intensive courses during your program.

2. Courses Taken at Overseas Partner Universities and Japanese MBA courses
If you choose to spend a term studying at one of our overseas partner universities and/or take courses offered by our sister Japanese MBA Program (Japanese Language Proficiency Test N1 required), up to 10 credits of courses can be counted toward your Doshisha MBA degree. (Approval of course professor required.)

The required courses help students to develop conceptual understanding and critical thinking and analytical skills as a foundation for their major project.

Japanese Language and Culture Courses [for-credit, but do not count toward MBA degree]
Doshisha’s Center for Japanese Language and Culture (“CJLC”) offers a wide range of Japanese language and culture courses for international students studying in undergraduate and graduate programs at Doshisha. A certain number of these courses are open to international students enrolled in our Global MBA free of charge. Please note, however, that these courses cannot be included in the 46 credits required for the Doshisha MBA degree.
