Kinsmen Lutheran School in Houston in Harris County, TX, prides itself on teaching excellent Christian morals and values through it's preschool and kindergarten programs. We use a Christian-based curriculum that focuses on core fundamental studies. Kinsmen Lutheran School is a licensed childcare provider by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. Our class ratios are exceptional. Our kindergarten class has a 10-1 ratio, while our 1st grade class boasts a 12-1 ratio. We take monthly field trips, Wednesday Chapel, music, sign language and Spanish classes. Kinsmen is dedicated to building children’s self-esteem, promoting self-reliance, providing Christian nurturing and enriching your child’s experiences in an educational environment.
Early Childhood Education Programs:
Children have opportunities to experience learning centers, music and movement, arts & crafts, language development and stimulation, science and the study of God’s word. Manipulative play, a fenced playground, indoor gym, dramatic play, sand and water play and sharing time, as well as Chapel time and field trips are offered for preschoolers.
Teacher-student ratios are: 3-year-olds (3 teachers to 21 students) & 4-year-olds (3 teachers to 25 students).
- Preschool Program:
For children ages 3 years or 4 years by Sept. 1, toilet trained and having all immunizations as required by state law will be accepted (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 9 am - 1 pm).
- Mothers Day Out (MDO) Program:
For ages 12-35 months (Monday through Friday, 8 am-2:30 pm) & 3-4 year-olds (Monday or Friday, 9 am - 2:30 pm).
- All Day Kindergarten Program:
* School Hours: 8:30 – 2:30.
* School curriculum is Alpha Omega.
* We provide before and after care, at an additional cost.
* Music, Spanish, PE and Art classes.
* Multiple field trips.
- 1st Grade Program
- Before & After School Program:
This special program is designed to provide a safe, fun and enriching environment for children to spend their before and after school hours. We promote the development of positive self image and emphasize life skills including Christian beliefs, making positive choices, getting along with others and caring about oneself.
Children will have an opportunity to participate in arts and crafts, enrichment programs, supervised free play and Wednesday Chapel. Children will receive time for and assistance with their homework and an afternoon snack. We provide bus service to school-aged students from Kindergarten through Junior High that attend Greenwood Forest, Harmony Science Academy, Kaiser, Klenk, Yeager Elementary and Bleyl & Wunderlich Intermediate schools.
Before & After School Kinsmen follows the Klein ISD school calendar and is open during all staff development days. Harris County recognizes Before & After School Kinsmen for its unique programs and the impact its making in their communities. The purpose is to provide a high quality before and after school program which nurtures the development of children in a Christian environment and to serve as a ministry to the surrounding community.
- Nursery Program:
This is available every Sunday from 8 am until 12:30 pm, and at other times for special events and activities.
