English Summer Camps for Teens in California

Kaplan International Los Angeles Area:
Kaplan International offer a summer English school for teenagers and juniors on the attractive campus of Whittier College, just 15 minutes east of Downtown Los Angeles, California. The summer English courses are designed for 12-18 year olds from around the world who wish to learn English on an academic campus and enjoy year-round sunshine and a laid-back beach culture. Our summer ESL programs for juniors include 20 English classes per week as well as a full summer activity program plus excursions.

With a maximum of 15 students per class, each student receives individual attention. Our international students will stay in twin rooms in on-campus residential dormitory accommodation.

Summer English Programs:
Our summer ESL programs for students aged 12-18 include:

• 15 hours of English classes per week for beginner, intermediate and advanced levels
• Full summer activity program plus excursions

Group bookings can be made for the summer English camps at Whittier College. Kaplan International also offer summer English courses for juniors in San Francisco (Berkeley) and San Diego, California.


Social Activities Program:
A minimum of three activities per week are provided during your summer in the Los Angeles area which may include sports, film nights, dance classes, visits to Disneyland or Long Beach Aquarium and more.

You will also have the opportunity to take part in optional excursions (for which extra charges apply) organized by the school to visit LA's top attractions.

• English school facilities include spacious classrooms, multimedia suite with free internet access and learning software.

• Students can also make use of campus amenities including sports fields, swimming pool, cafeteria, book shop, snack bar and chapel.


Accommodation:
• Our international students stay in twin rooms in on-campus residential dormitory accommodation with common rooms and shared bathroom facilities.

• The dormitories are located close to Whittier College’s recreational facilities and cafeteria.

• Breakfast and dinner are served each day, with lunch provided Monday to Friday.

Program yoUr Future, San Francisco Bay Area
Courses / Programs
Program yoUr Future (PUF) is a non-profit outreach program that aims to raise greater awareness for women in technology by complimenting San Francsico Bay Area middle school girls’ education with programming basics using AppInventor and Scratch, networking skills, and fieldtrips to local museums or tech companies.

We provide Saturday workshops and summer camps to introduce girls in 7th or 8th grade to computing, information technology, and careers in IT. Programs are hosted in high-tech and top research sites, including the International Computer Science Institute and the University of California Berkeley.

PUF will also cover topics such as How to Write a Resume, STEM Year-long Opportunities, and High School Success & Leadership. In addition, participants will interact with and learn from IT and STEM mentors and key note speakers AND participate in mock interviews.

Through fun CS-related hands-on activities, they will not only have the opportunity to explore interdisciplinary applications and acquire presentation skills but will also be able to keep their creation as a souvenir! The participants are also challenged to identify a social issue or problem and design a solution integrating the use of information technology.

No programming experience or prior computer science knowledge is necessary to participate. The girls will form a strong community and enduring friendships. Students will also have the opportunity to receive prizes and scholarship money.
